Summary: This study investigated the impact of nanoparticle cross-linking on liver uptake. The findings indicate that the cross-linking structure of nanoparticle can modulate the targeting ability of antibody nanoparticles in model cell lines and their interaction with phagocytes in human blood. The molecular architecture of PEG can also increase the tumor accumulation of antibody nanoparticles by reducing their uptake in the liver.

Summary: By modifying native HA through cross-linking reactions with Ornithine, the half-life and performance of the new product (HA-Orn) were improved. The gel-like profile of HA-Orn showed improved resistance against enzymatic digestion, and in vitro cytotoxicity studies demonstrated no cytotoxicity on lung cell lines.

Summary: This study investigates the formation of heteroaggregates from sub-micron particles in ProCell type spouted bed equipment. The high inlet air velocities in the special spouted bed can promote aggregate breakage and rearrangement. The mixing of sub-micron sized particles is achieved at the sub-agglomerate level, as shown by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).

Summary: Ionotropic gelation (IG) is an attractive method for synthesizing water-soluble polymeric nanoparticles and sub-micron particles. The technique relies on the electrostatic interaction between ionic species of opposite charge. However, achieving size control in conventional bench-top processes is challenging. This study explores the combination of membrane dispersion technology with IG as a scalable method for producing chitosan sub-micron particles.

Summary: This study proposes a collaborative strategy based on defect induction and doping to prepare strain-regulated Pt-NiO@Ni sub-micron particles. These particles with tensile strain and Pt-doped can effectively optimize the electronic distribution of atomic structures in Pt and NiO on the surface, reducing the energy barrier of intermediates for ORR and OER. As a result, the Pt-NiO@Ni SP exhibits outstanding bifunctional catalytic activity and the Pt-NiO@Ni SP-based liquid zinc-air battery shows high open-circuit potential, excellent energy density, and favorable cyclic charge-discharge cycling durability. This work provides an innovative avenue for the rational construction of highly active bifunctional electrocatalysts for practical applications.

Summary: Benefitting from the tunable heterogeneous interface and electronic interaction, metal-polymer-based hybrid composites have attracted attention. The synthesis methodology and structure-performance relationship need to be improved. In this study, an anisotropic eccentric Ag@polyaniline (PANI) particle was successfully fabricated by resolving the dynamics issue in the Ag+-aniline reaction system. The study demonstrates the synergy mechanism of polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) and in-situ generated PANI for modifying the dynamic reaction interface and provides an inspiring concept of eccentric microstructure engineering.

Summary: Matrix-bound nanovesicles (MBV) are a distinct subtype of bioactive extracellular vesicles that are embedded within the extracellular matrix (ECM). Recent studies have demonstrated the therapeutic potential of MBV in models of retinal damage and rheumatoid arthritis by targeting immunomodulation. However, the biocompatibility and biodistribution of MBV in vitro and in vivo have not been fully characterized. This study comprehensively examined the pre-clinical safety profile of MBV and found that they are well-tolerated, non-toxic, and non-immunosuppressive. These findings highlight the translational feasibility of MBV therapeutics for various clinical applications.

Summary: An HAase inhibitor-incorporated hyaluronic acid hydrogel was designed to reduce toxicity risk and slow biodegradation rate in subcutaneous tissue. The hydrogel, formulated with Quercetin as an HAase inhibitor and quetiapine as a model drug, exhibited sustained drug release and improved pharmacokinetic parameters in rats following subcutaneous injection. All results supported the designed hydrogel as a biocompatible formulation for sustained drug delivery.

Summary: Compared with siRNAs or other ASOs, TNA has the advantages of chemical simplicity, DNA/RNA binding capability, folding ability of tertiary structure, and excellent physiological stability, which make it a promising tool in biomedical applications. This study investigates the pharmacokinetics and biosafety of TNAs in living organisms, finding that they exhibit excellent stability, low cytotoxicity, and substantial uptake in living cells without transfection. TNAs also show the ability to efficiently penetrate multicellular spheroids and can be safely administered in mice without causing pathological changes in the kidneys.
