Summary: The study demonstrates a method for controlling molecular assembly structures through kinetic trapping design and amplifying them to the macroscale, achieving the capturing of transient polypseudorotaxanes from solution and obtaining materials with different physical properties. By 3D printing different shapes of polypseudorotaxane networks, moisture-responsive actuators can be constructed.

Summary: The study reports on the synthesis and temperature-responsive properties of poly(PEGMA) hydrogel thin films. Surface-attached poly(PEGMA) hydrogel films were synthesized using a simple, versatile, and well-controlled thiol-ene click reaction method, with the transition temperature finely tunable by adjusting the number of PEG units. The LCST properties of the hydrogel films are not sensitive to salt, holding promise for applications in biology such as injectable hydrogels, drug delivery systems, microfluidic valves, and flow switches for biotechnologies.

Summary: Through a fundamental structure/property study, the effects of steric hindrance/electronic properties of the monomer, spacer length between sulfur atom and olefin group, and stereoselectivity of the polymerization process on the crystalline performance of sulfur-functionalized poly(alpha-olefin) were revealed. The first crystalline sulfur-functionalized poly(alpha-olefin) was reported, which formed crystalline materials with a high melting point.

Summary: Crystalline products of 1R, 4R-camphor vapor diffusion into an aqueous solution of alpha-cyclodextrin were prepared and analyzed by X-ray structure analysis. Two different forms, a dimeric cavity (phase A) and a complex set of monomeric cavities (phase B), were obtained. Both structures contained camphor molecules that were disordered. Additionally, the structures were solvated by mixtures of water and ethanol. The chemical stabilities of the two structures differed significantly, with phase A being relatively stable and phase B reacting rapidly to changes in its chemical environment, leading to cracking of crystals in solution.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the effects of 25 alcohols on cyclodextrin yield and ratio, as well as the stability of inclusion complexes formed. The results showed that linear monohydric alcohols had a greater impact on alpha-cyclodextrin synthesis and formed the best correlation between inclusion complex formation and increased selectivity for alpha-cyclodextrin, providing a theoretical basis for the selection of compound agents in producing alpha-cyclodextrin.

Summary: The formation of molecular inclusion complexes of Salvia officinalis bioactive compounds with beta-cyclodextrin was evaluated in this study. Sage essential oil/beta-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes were prepared and confirmed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The antimicrobial activity of the complexes against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Listeria monocytogenes was evaluated, and the results showed that the complexes exhibited antimicrobial activity, with the effectiveness proportional to their concentrations but less pronounced.

Summary: This study provides the first evidence of the interaction between PEG and HA in aqueous solutions. The binding of PEG to HA requires multiple free primary hydroxyls regularly distributed along the polysaccharide chain. Additionally, PEG-induced compaction of HA may be related to changes in plasma membrane properties and resealing of mechanical injuries.
