Summary: The research found that thermoset composites reinforced with cotton and polyester fibers have different performance characteristics, with polyester/epoxy composites showing higher tensile and impact strength, while cotton/epoxy composites exhibit higher flexural strength. Additionally, the bearing strength in a pinned joint is higher for polyester/epoxy composites compared to cotton/epoxy composites. Moreover, the equilibrium water content of polyester/epoxy composites is significantly less than that of cotton/epoxy composites, and both types of composites are thermally stable.

Summary: In this study, CTBN liquid rubber was modified for improved compatibility and solubility in unsaturated polyester resins, resulting in the highest tensile strength, elongation-at-break, and modulus of toughness in the polyester with 2 wt% rubber. The addition of 2 wt% rubber in polyester/glass fiber composites enhanced fatigue life due to increased toughness of the composite matrix, with failure at the interface observed in specimens containing rubber.

Summary: This paper investigates the long-term mechanical performance of textile reinforced concrete and its relationship with fiber coatings, and compares the reduction in tensile strength of composites under different conditions. The study shows that the type and extent of fiber coatings significantly affect the strength retention of the composites.

Summary: The bitumen was modified with unsaturated polyester resin and the properties of the modified bitumen were compared with the unmodified bitumen. The modified bitumen showed a lower glass transition temperature, making it suitable for regions with large temperature differences. The dielectric analysis method was found to be an effective alternative for evaluating the low-temperature performance of modified bitumen.

Summary: The disposal of glass bottles is a global environmental issue. This study repurposed discarded glass bottles into glass powder and evaluated its use as a modifier in asphalt binders. The results showed that adding glass powder improved the softening point and Marshall stability of the asphalt mixture.

Summary: The composition of bio-oil rejuvenator was optimized for the efficient utilization of waste bituminous pavement materials and waste bio-oil. The rejuvenation efficiency of the waste bio-oil rejuvenator was evaluated based on rheological properties and chemical composition, and a quantitatively evaluation index was proposed. The central composite design and response surface methodology proved effective in optimizing the composition of rejuvenators. The waste bio-oil rejuvenator showed higher efficiency in rejuvenating aged bitumen compared to commercial rejuvenators, with a rejuvenation efficiency close to 100% for rheological parameters.

Summary: This paper reviews the current status and future perspectives of reinforced glass fiber waste, and evaluates the management hierarchy for these materials. The recycling processes, advantages and disadvantages, and mechanical characteristics are presented. Thermal processes have the potential to be more competitive, but the energy requirements are not well explained. The integration of recycled glass fibers into materials with increased mechanical properties is evaluated, and future recommendations are made for the recycling and commercialization of glass fiber.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of UV aging on the healing capacity of bitumen with different dosages of taconite tailings and examines the possibility of restoring the healing capacity of aged bitumen with a rejuvenator made from waste vegetable oil. Results show that UV aging increases aging indices and stiffness of bitumen but the presence of taconite tailings enhances the healing capacity. Additionally, all samples exhibit improved healing capacity in the presence of rejuvenator.

Summary: The aim of this study is to develop a composite material made from textile waste for automotive or construction fields, with adequate mechanical, acoustical, and thermal properties. Three types of recycled nonwoven waste (cotton, polyester, and cotton/polyester blend) are blended with epoxy resin to manufacture the composite panels. Tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of the nonwoven fabrics and composite panels in terms of mechanical, thermal, and acoustical properties. The results show that the mechanical properties of the composite panels are significantly improved compared to pure resin, while the thermal behavior of the epoxy resin remains largely unchanged.

Summary: Modifying bitumens using char as a modifier can improve their structural and mechanical characteristics, resulting in increased durability and reduced environmental impact. This study examined two different char samples obtained from pyrolysis of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) and waste tyres (WT), respectively, and found that the WT-char modified bitumen exhibited higher shear modulus, resistance to mechanical stress, and anti-aging properties.
