Summary: The emergence of Covid-19 is a global problem causing increasing mortality rates and lacking verified treatment. The abnormal unrestricted response called cytokine storm, which is triggered by increased amounts of cytokine production, contributes to the severity of Covid-19 and the development of respiratory failure and pneumonia. The interaction between SARS-CoV-2 and endotoxins plays a role in the excessively elevated release of cytokines and the worsening of Covid-19.

Summary: In the study, it was found that RvD5 enhances bacteria phagocytosis, reduces inflammatory mediators, and protects kidneys from tissue injury in gram-negative Escherichia coli infection and LPS endotoxemia. This effect is associated with improved histopathological parameters, reduced leukocyte infiltration, decreased pro-inflammatory cytokine production, and increased antioxidant markers. RvD5 also reduces the activation of NF kappa B and promotes the Nrf2 pathway.

Summary: This study demonstrated that pinocembrin could alleviate myocardial injury and arrhythmia in rats with sepsis, showing excellent protective effects on the heart. By inhibiting the p38/JNK MAPK signaling pathway, pinocembrin reduced inflammation and cell apoptosis, thus alleviating myocardial injury induced by LPS.

Summary: Anxiety is a common psychological disease, and finding methods to prevent anxiety attacks is crucial. This study found that pre-stimulation of the innate immune system can prevent the development of anxiety-like behaviors and reduce neuroinflammatory responses in the brain.

Summary: This study evaluated the suppressive effect of Wnt signaling inhibitor, Wnt-C59, in the kidneys, lungs, and livers of endotoxemic mice as a model of sepsis. Wnt-C59 improved survival rate, reduced proinflammatory cytokine levels and organ damage biomarkers, and inhibited Wnt/beta-catenin pathway, leading to suppression of NF-kappa B activity and cytokine upregulation in multiple organs, suggesting its potential use in treating sepsis-related multiple-organ dysfunction.

Summary: This study investigates the role of galectin-3 (Gal3) in the development of endotoxemia and sepsis. The absence of Gal3 reduces mortality and tissue damage in a murine model of endotoxemia. Gal3 levels decrease in immune cells, particularly monocytes, after LPS injection, and Gal3 is up-regulated in peripheral organs. These findings suggest that Gal3 plays a significant role in systemic inflammation and may provide potential therapeutic options for sepsis.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of chlorogenic acid (CGA) found in coffee on obesity and metabolic endotoxemia. CGA was found to prevent weight gain, improve intestinal barrier function, and prevent metabolic disorders and endotoxemia through altering the gut microbiota composition. The study concludes that CGA-induced changes in the gut microbiota play a key role in inhibiting metabolic endotoxemia in high-fat diet-fed mice.

Summary: This study examined the effect of pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy on a mouse model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced septic shock. The results showed that PEMF treatment increased the survival rate of mice and decreased pro-inflammatory cytokine gene expression and liver damage. Microarray analysis identified several genes regulated by PEMF therapy. Therefore, PEMF may be beneficial for patients with bacteria-induced sepsis and reduce septic shock-induced mortality.
