Summary: This case report highlights the occurrence of autoimmune hepatitis episodes following COVID-19 vaccination in a patient with distinctive T cell-dominant immune-mediated hepatitis. Liver tissue analysis revealed an immune infiltrate with activated cytotoxic CD8 T cells predominantly distributed, indicating a unique pathomechanism associated with vaccination-induced antigens.

Summary: iNKT cells play a crucial role in modulating CD8-mediated immune responses in the presence or absence of CD4(+) T cells. Lack of iNKT cells decreases CD8-mediated allocytotoxicity, which can be restored by adoptive transfer of iNKT cells. including TNF-alpha and IFN-gamma.

Summary: Chronic uveitis is a group of clinical entities characterized by sustained and recurrent intraocular inflammation that is believed to be driven by autoimmune responses. In this study, a murine model of chronic autoimmune uveitis was used to investigate the cellular mechanisms underlying chronic intraocular inflammation. The results showed the presence of unique long-lived CD4(+) memory T cells in the retina and secondary lymphoid organs after 3 months of inducing autoimmune uveitis. These memory T cells exhibited antigen-specific proliferation and activation in response to retinal peptide stimulation. Furthermore, they were found to be capable of effectively trafficking to the retina and causing retinal damage. The findings suggest that memory T cells may be a potential therapeutic target for treating chronic uveitis.

Summary: Obesity is a powerful health indicator that leads to metabolic diseases, insulin resistance, and low-grade chronic inflammation. Research has shown that obese tissues activate and induce CD4(+) and CD8(+) CD69(+) T cells, increase the expression of CXCR3 receptors, and promote recruitment and accumulation of pro-inflammatory M1 macrophages to maintain low-grade chronic inflammation.

Summary: This study discovers that homocitrullinated peptides can be processed and presented via MHC-I for tumor therapy. The modified peptides show enhanced binding to HLA-A2 and induce high avidity homocitrulline-specific CD8 T-cell responses, which can kill target cells expressing the peptide.

Summary: In this study, the researchers used a transgenic mouse model and single-cell RNA sequencing technology to investigate the role of CD8(+) T cell subsets in the pathogenesis of PBC. They found functional heterogeneity among these subsets and identified distinct characteristics of terminally differentiated CD8 alpha alpha T cells and CD8 alpha beta T cells. These findings enhance our understanding of the pathogenesis of PBC.

Summary: The high expression of CD39 in BLCA patients is significantly associated with advanced tumor stage and worse survival rate, while CD8+CD39+ T cells exhibit stronger tumor-killing effect and produce higher level of IFN-gamma compared to other T cell populations.

Summary: This study investigates the molecular mechanism of CD8+T cells in the progression of diabetic macular edema (DME) and identifies key CD8+T cell-related genes that play a crucial role in the inflammatory response. Through gene analysis and enrichment analysis, important CD8+T cell-related genes were identified. These findings provide new directions for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy.

Summary: In patients with AAD, a significantly higher frequency of HLA-A2 restricted LLNATIAEV-specific cells was found compared to controls. However, negligible frequencies of EPLARLEL-specific T cells were detected, with significant IFNγ production observed in response to a longer peptide encompassing EPLARLEL. The slightly offset ARLELFVVL peptide was identified as a novel dominant epitope restricted by HLA-C7.

Summary: CD4(+) T cells have important roles in immune responses, either directly or through accessory cells such as CD8(+) T lymphocytes. While the role of NeoAg-specific CD8(+) T cells in cancer has been extensively studied, the role of NeoAg-specific CD4(+) T cells is less well understood.

Summary: Our study identified a novel metabolic cancer associated fibroblasts subset (meCAFs) enriched in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and related to CD8+ T cells accumulation. The abundance of meCAFs was associated with poor prognosis but better immunotherapy responses in PDAC patients. We demonstrated that PLA2G2A+ meCAFs impede the antitumor immune function of CD8+ T cells and facilitate tumor immune escape in PDAC.

Summary: Sex hormones play a crucial role in regulating endometrial CD8+T cells, with estradiol directly suppressing cytotoxic activity and progesterone indirectly inducing TGF beta production. Understanding these mechanisms is essential for optimizing reproductive success and developing strategies to prevent infections and cancers.

Summary: CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes with a tissue-resident memory T (TRM) cell phenotype are associated with favorable prognosis in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). The study shows that intratumoral CD8+ T cells in mice and TNBC patients transcriptionally resemble each other. Two intratumoral sub-populations were identified, one with markers of terminal exhaustion (TEX-like) and the other with a bona fide resident phenotype (TRM-like). Treatment with checkpoint inhibitors resulted in expansion of the TRM-like subset with enhanced cytotoxic capacity and improved clinical outcomes in TNBC patients.
