Background and Aim: The contribution of human genetic polymorphisms to Helicobacter pylori infection and gastric cancer (GC) development remains unclear due to geographic variation in the association between specific host genetic polymorphisms and GC. In the current study we investigated the association between polymorphisms related to immune and cancer-related pathways and H. pylori infection among the major ethnicities, Chinese, Malay and Indian, resident in Singapore and Malaysia as well as the association between these polymorphisms and GC development in ethnic Chinese patients.

Summary: The study identified active and growing clusters of subtype B and CRF01_AE among men who have sex with men (MSM) as the driving force of the ongoing epidemic in New South Wales. The local transmission dynamics vary between the different subtypes, with CRF01_AE showing a more accelerated spread over time.

Summary: In general, from 2010 to 2018, a total of 43,560 GBM attended participating clinics in New South Wales, Australia. There were increasing trends in testing uptake, testing frequency, and decreasing trend in HIV positivity among both Australian-born and overseas-born GBM. However, there were decreasing trends in the estimated undiagnosed HIV proportion overall and in Australian-born GBM, but an increasing trend in overseas-born GBM.

Summary: The UN set a global target of 3 million PrEP users by 2020, but by the end of 2019, there were about 626,000 PrEP users globally. The forecast projects 0.9-1.1 million global PrEP users by the end of 2020 and 2.4-5.3 million by the end of 2023.

Summary: This systematic review found that there is overall interest and preference for injectable PrEP as an HIV prevention option. However, preferences varied across different groups and regions, highlighting the importance of allowing individuals to choose the modality that suits their needs and preferences. Future research should focus on equitable implementation and support for individual decision-making.

Summary: Data from RCTs showed the efficacy of injectable cabotegravir (CAB) for HIV prevention, and it has been approved in several countries. However, implementation experience beyond RCTs is limited, and questions remain regarding delivery and inclusion of marginalized populations. A coordinated approach is needed to ensure timely and effective introduction of CAB in low- and middle-income countries.
