Summary: This study aimed to identify risk factors for lung metastasis without liver metastasis (LuM) from colon cancer and create a nomogram to predict the prognosis of patients with LuM. The results showed that factors such as race, tumor size, and location of the colon tumor were associated with the occurrence of LuM. Additionally, age, gender, and lymph node positivity rate were independent risk factors for cancer-specific survival. There were also significant differences between LuM and lung metastasis with liver metastasis (LLM) in terms of age, primary site, tumor size, and differentiation grade.

Summary: In this study, the expression of SOCS3 in colon primary tumor and lung metastasis, as well as its relationship with macrophages, was investigated. The results showed that high expression of SOCS3 was associated with poor prognosis and immune cell infiltration in various cancer types, particularly in colon cancer. Additionally, lung metastasis exhibited higher expression of CD163 and SOCS3, and high expression of SOCS3 was more likely to be associated with high expression of CD163 in lung metastasis. These findings suggest that SOCS3 could serve as a prognostic marker and therapeutic target for immunotherapy in different tumors, particularly in colon cancer.

Summary: Liver metastasis is a deadly phenomenon in colon cancer patients, and a nomogram integrating various prognostic factors can accurately predict the prognosis of these patients. The nomogram showed favorable effects in predicting the overall survival of CCLM patients in training, internal validation, and external validation sets, suggesting its suitability for different patient populations.

Summary: Patients with isolated lung metastasis have a worse prognosis compared to those with bone or liver metastasis in thyroid cancer. Surgery for the primary or distant site(s) can improve survival outcomes in patients with lung or bone metastasis.

Summary: Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) levels are an important risk factor for cancer incidence and death. A cohort study in Swedish men showed that moderate and high CRF were associated with a lower risk of colon cancer, while higher CRF levels were associated with a higher risk of prostate cancer incidence.

Summary: Non-small cell lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death globally, with an increasing incidence of brain metastases in NSCLC patients. This study identified systemic metastatic load and number of brain metastases as significant factors affecting overall survival in resectable NSCLC patients. Factors such as age, absence of other systemic metastases, and number of brain metastases were found to impact survival outcomes.

Summary: The immune microenvironment differs between primary colon tumors and liver metastases, with more immunosuppressive cells in the liver potentially explaining why immunotherapy is less effective in colorectal cancer with liver metastases.

Summary: This study reveals that liver cancer promotes tumor lung metastasis by regulating neutrophil recruitment and NETs formation in the metastatic microenvironment through reducing HRG secretion. The findings of this study will contribute to the development of possible strategies for treating metastases.

Summary: This study investigated the plasma exosomes' proteomic profiles in patients with lung cancer (LC) who had liver metastasis (LM) or brain metastasis (BM). Differentially expressed exosome-based proteins (DEEPs) were identified in LM and BM, and they were found to be involved in proteomic triggering cascade, ECM-receptor interaction, and the collagen-containing extracellular matrix. Potential biomarkers for the diagnosis of LM and BM were also suggested.

Summary: This study validates the feasibility of the Lung-molGPA tool in predicting survival of patients with non-small-cell lung cancer, providing evidence for its usefulness in determining treatment strategies and prognosis. Patients in the adenocarcinoma group with higher Lung-molGPA scores had longer median survival times, while a similar trend was observed in the non-adenocarcinoma group.

Summary: mTOR pathway activation is common in cancer, but mTOR inhibitors have not shown significant antiproliferative efficacy in most cancer types. Research on mTOR inhibition in hepatocytes reveals that non-malignant host cells may contribute to resistance against mTOR inhibitors.

Summary: This study investigated the impact and mechanism of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) on colon cancer liver metastasis (CLM) using a western diet (WD)-fed mouse model. The results showed that mice fed a WD for 16 weeks exhibited hepatic fibrosis, elevated liver function, and cholesterol levels. Furthermore, the WD group had a significantly lower tumor number and smaller tumor diameter. The expression of SAA1, IL6, STAT3, and MMP9 genes in the liver was also significantly lower in the WD group.

Summary: The study found that anlotinib increased progression-free survival (PFS) compared to placebo in patients with SCLC and liver metastasis, but did not significantly impact overall survival (OS). The anlotinib group showed a higher disease control rate and longer PFS than the placebo group. The most common adverse events in the anlotinib group were hypertension, fatigue, loss of appetite, and weight loss.

Summary: It is estimated that 50% of colorectal cancer patients will develop liver metastasis. Surgical resection significantly improves survival and provides a chance of cure. Liver transplantation is explored as a potential curative treatment for unresectable colorectal cancer liver metastasis. Candidate selection criteria, chemotherapy strategies, refined immunity regimens, and resolution for graft shortage are key concerns in current research.

Summary: This study analyzed the clinical impact of pretransplant administration of mycophenolate mofetil in reducing intrahepatic cholangiopathy in ABO-incompatible liver transplantation. The results showed that patients who underwent open surgery and received pretransplant mycophenolate mofetil had a lower incidence of intrahepatic cholangiopathy in ABO-incompatible liver transplantation. This suggests that pretransplant mycophenolate mofetil can reduce the risk of intrahepatic cholangiopathy.

Summary: This study aimed to provide evidence of antibody responses after COVID-19 vaccination in liver transplant (LT) recipients. Among the 46 patients enrolled in the study, 87% demonstrated an antibody response after the second dose of the vaccine. The study also found that patients with lower levels of immunosuppressive drugs before and after vaccination had a significantly higher antibody response.
