Summary: This study found that xanthotoxin can reduce depressive behaviors in male mice, while female mice have lower immobility levels compared to males, which may be related to higher levels of serotonin in the female prefrontal cortex. Additionally, xanthotoxin can lead to a dose-dependent increase in serotonin and noradrenaline levels in the female prefrontal cortex.

Summary: This study prepared nanoemulsion and liposome from ginseng root residue extract and evaluated their anti-fatigue effects in rats. The results showed that both nanoemulsion and liposome exhibited high stability and could prolong swimming time, increase hepatic glycogen levels, and decrease blood urea nitrogen and lactic acid levels in rats. Hence, both nanoemulsion and liposome have the potential to be developed into functional food or botanical drugs.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the structure and anti-inflammatory activity of a neutral polysaccharide (AGP-A) isolated from American ginseng. The results showed that AGP-A has a molecular weight of 5561 Da and mainly consists of glucose. It exhibited significant anti-inflammatory effects in cell and zebrafish models by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines and inhibiting neutrophil recruitment. These findings suggest that AGP-A may serve as a potential natural anti-inflammatory medicine derived from American ginseng.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the material basisand mechanism of Ginseng in anti-fatigue effects by comparing Mountain Cultivated Ginseng (MCG) with Cultivated Ginseng (CG). The results showed that the Mountain Cultivated Ginseng acidic polysaccharides (MCGAPs) had significant advantages in anti-fatigue activity, including prolonging fatigue tolerance time, alleviating fatigue substance accumulation, increasing antioxidant enzyme activity, and regulating muscle fiber contraction. The anti-fatigue effect of MCG was significantly better than CG, mainly due to the difference in acidic polysaccharide.

Summary: 20(S)-GRh2 inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in HeLa cells by activating intrinsic apoptotic pathway and causing mitochondrial dysfunction, while enhancing autophagy by promoting AMPK phosphorylation and suppressing mTOR activity. The use of autophagy inhibitors enhances 20(S)-GRh2-induced apoptosis, while autophagy inducers promote cell survival. Additionally, the protective autophagy induced by 20(S)-GRh2 inhibits the AMPK/mTOR pathway, promoting apoptosis in cervical cancer cells.

Summary: The multifunctional adaptor protein p62/sequestosome, when upregulated by G-Rh2, enhances apoptosis in HeLa cells, while its knockdown further decreases cell viability and increases apoptosis, oxidative stress, and Bax/Bcl-2 ratio without affecting autophagy induced by G-Rh2. This suggests a potential treatment strategy for cervical cancer by combining G-Rh2 treatment with inhibition of p62.
