Summary: This paper outlines the fabrication of bioactive glass derived from waste eggshells as a source of calcium and investigates its properties. The results show that increasing CaF2 content with appropriate P2O5 content can improve the mechanical properties of the bioglass. The bioglass with CaF2/P2O5 ratio of 6/4 exhibits the optimal compressive strength and vickers microhardness.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the optimal concentration of eugenol (Eg) and eugenyl-glycidyl methacrylate (EgGMA) to achieve the ideal degree of conversion (DC) in resin composites. Two series of experimental composites were prepared, one containing EgGMA and the other containing Eg, ranging from 0-6.8 wt% per resin matrix. The results showed that the DC increased with concentration up to a certain point, and then decreased. Insufficient DC, below the suggested clinical limit (>55%), was observed beyond specific concentration thresholds.

Summary: This study compared the effects of salts with different carbon chain lengths on the uniaxial tensile properties of PMMA. It was found that the salts had a pinning effect on PMMA chains, causing brittle fracture, with LFMS showing a more pronounced effect. Doping with LFMS enhanced ductility while slightly reducing tensile toughness. The rheological behavior at the compression-molding temperature was found to affect the brittle fracture behavior in tension.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of various lithium halides on the rheological and mechanical properties of PMMA. The results show that lithium halides can strongly crosslink with PMMA and alter its flow behavior and mechanical properties. The addition of lithium halides in the PMMA matrix expands the flow zone and increases the brittleness of PMMA solids.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the effect of shelf-storage temperature on degree of conversion (DC) and microhardness of three composite restorative materials with different matrix systems. The results showed that refrigeration of resin-composite might have a deleterious effect on DC and microhardness of the tested materials.

Summary: This study analyzed the effect of the dental curing unit's (DCU) inhomogeneous beam profile on the microhardness distribution of composite resin specimens with different thicknesses. The results showed that the inhomogeneity of the beam profile can be influenced by attenuation conditions, and the effect of the beam profile on different thicknesses and types of composite resin varies.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between the amount of polar plasticizer glycerol and the glass transition temperature (T-g) and ion content of poly(styrene-Na methacrylate) (PSMANa) ionomers. It is found that the T-g of ion poor matrix regions decreases slightly due to the effect of glycerol on the formation of ionic aggregates. The cluster T-g (T-g,T-c) is influenced by the amount of glycerol, ion content, and phase separation in the ionomer matrix. The results suggest that the T-g,T-c of PSMANa ionomers can be controlled by varying the ion content and glycerol amount.

Summary: A synthesis approach was investigated for crosslinkable hyperbranched prepolymers with adjustable degrees of methylation and methacrylation, achieving full conversion of hydroxyl groups. The substitution degrees of methacrylate could be adjusted by catalyzed esterification using predefined partially methylated polyglycerol-based precursors. The combination of methacrylic anhydride, triethylamine, and 4-dimethylaminopyridine was proven effective for complete conversion of primary and secondary hydroxyl groups. NMR, IR, and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the insertion of methacrylic crosslinking groups in the polymeric backbone. The photopolymerization of obtained prepolymers resulted in higher crosslink density, stiffness, and glass transition temperature with increasing methacrylate content.

Summary: This work introduces a series of novel multi-responsive hyperbranched copolymers which self-organize in aqueous media. The copolymers, prepared by RAFT polymerization, exhibit responsiveness to changes in solution temperature and pH, and are able to encapsulate hydrophobic drugs like curcumin. These hyperbranched copolymers show potential as candidates for drug delivery and bio-imaging applications, as they demonstrate stability in the presence of serum proteins.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the physical and optical properties of barium germanium (BaO-GeO2) glass samples with varying BaO concentrations. The results showed that refractive indices, glass transition temperatures, molar volumes, and coefficients of thermal expansion increased with BaO concentration. Raman spectra revealed structural network modifications and typical Germanium glass bands.
