Summary: The meta-analysis revealed that high PD-1 expression levels were associated with multiple tumors, high AFP levels, and advanced BCLC stage in HBV-HCC patients, predicting a poor prognosis. This suggests that anti-PD-1 therapy may be a viable option for HBV-HCC patients.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common and deadly form of liver cancer. Current treatments are not effective and have significant side effects. A new method using bioinformatics has been developed to identify genes that are necessary for the survival of specific molecular subgroups of HCC but not normal cells. By targeting these genes, it may be possible to induce synthetic lethality in cancer cells. One gene, TIAM1, has been identified as a potential therapeutic target in a specific subgroup of HCC patients.

Summary: In solid tumors, hypoxia-induced upregulation of Fascin-1 in liver cancer is associated with larger tumor size, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis, and shorter overall survival in patients. Knockdown of Fascin-1 suppresses migration, invasion, EMT, stemness, and tumor xenograft growth of liver cancer cells, while forced expression of Fascin-1 has the opposite effects.

Summary: Despite advancements in targeted and immunotherapies, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients still face poor prognosis, especially in advanced and metastatic forms. Drug resistance, particularly in chemo-, targeted- and immuno-therapies, poses a significant challenge in the treatment of HCC. This article discusses the crucial role of the small GTPase Rac1 in HCC development and progression, along with its protein partners, and explores the potential of RNA-based regulators and small molecules to target Rac1. The oncogenic functions of Rac1 in HCC are highlighted, emphasizing its contribution to aggressive disease behavior such as cancer cell proliferation, tumor metastasis, and treatment resistance. Small molecule targeting of Rac1 has shown anticancer effects in experimental models of HCC. Rac1-binding agents like EHT 1864 and analogues offer new possibilities in combating HCC. The article addresses different approaches to inhibit Rac1 overactivation in HCC using small molecules, in combination with reference drugs, to induce cancer cell death and suppress cell invasion. It emphasizes the need to combine Rac1-targeted therapy with appropriate biomarkers for the selection of Rac1-activated tumors. The analysis underscores Rac1 as a potential target to overcome acquired and intrinsic resistance in HCC tumors and their metastatic potential.

Summary: Clear cell carcinoma (CCC) of the endometrium is a rare and invasive tumor. Important prognostic indicators for CCC patients include age of diagnosis, FIGO stage, tumor size, myometrial infiltration, lymphovascular invasion, distant metastasis, Ki-67 index, and P53 expression. CCC has worse prognosis compared to endometrioid carcinoma, but no significant difference with uterine papillary serous carcinoma.

Summary: This study explored the role of TBX19 in metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and found that TBX19 enhances HCC metastasis by upregulating EGFR and RAC1 expression. EGF/EGFR signaling upregulates TBX19 expression through the ERK/NF-kB pathway. Targeting this signaling pathway may offer a potential therapeutic strategy to efficiently restrain TBX19-mediated HCC metastasis.

Summary: Tiam1 plays a crucial role in regulating centriole duplication by maintaining normal centriole number and preventing overduplication, ultimately affecting chromosome segregation and potentially driving malignant progression. Tiam1 regulates PLK4 levels through promoting beta TRCP-mediated degradation independently of Rac1 activation.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major health problem and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. The prognosis for advanced HCC is poor, and the selection of optimal treatment remains a challenge. However, recent studies have shown that the combination of atezolizumab and bevacizumab can significantly improve survival and is recommended as the first-line treatment for advanced HCC. Other treatments, such as regorafenib and cabozantinib, can be considered for disease progression. Transarterial chemoembolization is also an alternative treatment for patients with intermediate-stage HCC. The accurate estimation of liver function is crucial for therapeutic management.

Summary: The poor prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is closely related to the characteristics of the tumor microenvironment (TME). Recent studies have shown that the microbiome in the TME can influence cancer progression. This study explored the intratumoral microbiome in HCC TME and found that microbial profiles and community networks differed between tumors and adjacent normal tissues. The hepatotype was identified as a potential independent prognostic factor for patients with resected HCC.
