Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the immunomodulatory activity of fucoidan from Undaria pinnatifida in mice with subcutaneous xenograft sarcoma. The results showed that fucoidan enhanced the immune response by improving the phagocytic function, increasing cytokine levels, promoting lymphocyte responses and dendritic cell infiltration, and upregulating expression of immune molecules. Overall, fucoidan from Undaria pinnatifida has potential as an antitumor adjuvant for patients with advanced soft tissue sarcomas.

Summary: The lipidome of the brown seaweed wakame was extensively examined, revealing a variety of phospholipids and glycolipids. Saturated fatty acid C16:0 was the most abundant, while monounsaturated C18:1 and polyunsaturated C18:2 and C20:4 chains were predominant. The study's findings may open up possibilities for lipidomic investigations on other edible marine algae, highlighting their potential as a source of bioactive lipids.
