Summary: This study investigated the acceptability of the 500-mg mebendazole chewable tablet in children aged 2 to 4 years in Peru. The results showed that this formulation was considered positively accepted in children of this age group, and acceptability increased with age. However, there were some acceptability issues for younger children.

Summary: This study analyzes a group testing strategy that aims to maximize the efficiency of the SARS-CoV-2 screening test while maintaining its effectiveness. The study finds that group testing may result in a higher probability of false negative results but a lower probability of false positive results compared to individual testing. To ensure test effectiveness, the group size and disease prevalence need to be controlled within certain thresholds.

Summary: The study found that female sex workers responded positively to peer-led HIV self-testing, believing that this method would allow them to have more control over their testing experience and avoid discrimination in public facilities. Some female sex workers believed that HIV self-testing kits could help them understand the HIV status of their sexual partners, informing their decisions about condomless sex.

Summary: This study aimed to design, implement and evaluate a social marketing campaign to promote HIV testing in southwest Iran. The lack of awareness, information, and the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS were identified as the main barriers for low referral rates for testing. The social marketing campaign successfully increased the rates of referrals for HIV testing, especially among females and individuals with academic degrees.

Summary: The study investigated the performance of a computerized cognitive screening test (Inbrain CST) for diagnosing amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). The Inbrain CST showed sufficient sensitivity and specificity for identifying aMCI. It can be considered as an alternative test to supplement the limitations of existing neuropsychological tests.

Summary: A tablet-based supportive care platform offering self-care for pain, fatigue, sleep, and distress was found to be highly acceptable and feasible for patients with metastatic breast cancer. While there were small improvements in fatigue, potentially clinically meaningful reductions in sleep and distress were also observed, warranting further investigation.

Summary: A new simple, sensitive, and reliable spectrofluorimetric approach was established for the determination of the antidiabetic drug Alogliptin in its pure and tablet forms. The approach relies on the suppressive action of Alogliptin on the fluorescence of eosin Y. The method was validated according to ICH guidelines and successfully applied for content uniformity testing of Alogliptin. The results were compared to a published spectrophotometric method.

Summary: This study investigated the barriers and facilitators to the distribution of HIV self-test (HIVST) kits from pregnant women to their male partners. Factors such as trust, communication, fear of partner, and infidelity were found to influence women's decisions, and pregnancy was a motivator for men's uptake of HIVST. The results can inform policy guidelines for HIVST kit distribution.

Summary: Despite mass vaccination campaigns, human transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and emergent variants of concern continue to occur globally. Public health strategies should rely on frequent screening with rapid, inexpensive, and sensitive tests to reduce virus spread. Two digitally integrated rapid tests were evaluated and their performance was assessed using stored nasal swab specimens. The tests showed optimized detection of SARS-CoV-2 during the peak period of transmission, with the isothermal amplification assay combined with a lateral flow test demonstrating higher sensitivity than the antigen-based lateral flow test.

Summary: This study evaluated the reliability and accuracy of HPV-DNA tests using dry vaginal self-collection FLOQSwabs (R) devices eluted in 2 mL of molecular medium. The results showed high agreement in HPV-DNA results among the samples tested at different time points. The questionnaire revealed a high acceptability of self-collection among women, although there was a preference for standard collection devices.

Summary: The study found that the STAD test has high sensitivity and specificity for screening at-risk drinking in patients visiting the emergency department, with optimal cut-off values for males and females. The STAD test showed higher discriminatory ability compared to other abbreviated versions of AUDIT, enabling quick and effective screening for at-risk drinking.

Summary: Chagas disease can have dangerous consequences in people with HIV co-infection. This study provides practical recommendations to improve diagnosis and care for co-infected individuals, including incorporating Chagas disease screening into the initial evaluation for people with HIV. Screening for Chagas disease is important to identify infected individuals and provide timely treatment. Prompt evaluation and treatment should be considered for co-infected individuals with low CD4 cell counts and neurologic or cardiac symptoms.
