Summary: This study prepared an analogous complex and obtained a series of crystalline polymorphs with different packing modes and intermolecular interactions. By comparing different ligands, it was found that the NCSe- ligand showed a stronger ligand-field strength and weaker cooperativity compared to NCS-, resulting in a critical shift of T-1/2 values and a more gradual transition process.

Summary: We report an inverse-Hofmann-type metal-organic framework with hysteretic spin crossover behavior. The redox-active unit in the framework can be regulated by successive redox reactions in the spin crossover field, providing a platform for developing multi-responsive materials.

Summary: In this study, an inverse-Hofmann-type metal-organic framework (MOF) material [Fe-II(TPPE){Au-I(CN)(2)}]I.2H(2)O.7TCE with hysteretic spin crossover (SCO) behavior was reported. The redox-active unit [Au-I(CN)(2)](-) in the material can be oxidized by I-2 and Br-2 to form [Au-III(CN)(2)X-2](-) units via single-crystal to single-crystal transformation, and then reduced to [Au-I(CN)(2)](-) by l-ascorbic acid (AA). This study provides a platform for developing multi-responsive materials by regulating the SCO behavior through successive redox reactions.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of mechanical clamping on thermally induced spin transition in a deformable spin-crossover single crystal. It is found that straining the system edge not only changes the nature of the phase transition but also causes significant macroscopic bending effects. The spatiotemporal investigations reveal the formation of spatially organized tensile and compressive regions resulting from the system's bending.

Summary: A new spin crossover-fluorescent compound with a 2D structure and high sensitivity has been developed. Its magnetic and fluorescence properties can be simultaneously controlled by multiple external stimuli, including physical thermal treatment and chemical stimuli. The compound exhibits reversible variations and wide thermal hysteresis loops in its temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility and fluorescence intensity.

Summary: The storage of guest molecules in nonporous single crystals is an important development in the field of smart materials. We describe the synthesis and characterization of the new spin crossover Fe(III) compound [Fe(3-Br,5-ClsalEen)2]BPh4 center dot CH3CN center dot H2O (salEen = N-ethyl-N-(2-aminoethyl)salicylaldiminate) and its reversible single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformation upon desolvation and resolvation of the crystals. This compound behaves as a spin crossover sponge, and the desolvation/resolvation dynamics were studied through kinetic analysis.

Summary: Soft materials such as polymers, liquid crystals, and colloids exhibit unique functionalities derived from their non-rigid structures. Soft metal complexes with long alkyl chains show synergy between structural dynamics and electron dynamics. This review focuses on spin crossover behaviors associated with structural phase transitions in soft metal complexes, including liquid crystal transitions. Fabrication of soft materials based on spin crossover complexes is also discussed.

Summary: This study investigates the behavior of the spin crossover compound [Fe(ptz)(6)](BF4)(2) in the host lattice of [Ru(ptz)(6)](BF4)(2), revealing a decoupling between crystallographic phase transitions and thermal spin transitions. Dilution with Ru reduces the cooperative character of the transition and results in observed hysteretic thermal transitions with slight domain formation. The transition temperature is slightly dependent on crystal properties, emphasizing the importance of Ru spatial distribution in addition to crystal shape and size.

Summary: The combination of iron-(II) perchlorate with the octacyanidorhenate-(V) ions and two isomers of benzylpyridine results in heterometallic cyanido-bridged frameworks. The structure and physical properties of these frameworks are determined by the position of the benzyl substituent of the pyridine ligand. The coordination layers formed by 3-benzylpyridine do not exhibit significant thermal spin crossover, while the chiral three-dimensional coordination network formed by 4-benzylpyridine displays thermal spin transition of Fe-(II) sites.
