Summary: This study reveals that there are two isoforms of eIF-5A in humans, with eIF5-A1 being constitutively expressed and eIF5-A2 frequently overexpressed in human tumors. The overexpression of eIF-5A2 is associated with poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma patients. Furthermore, eIF-5A2 has a greater impact on cell proliferation and migration, and its overexpression enhances global translation. The Type 1 Secretion System (T1SS) and associated effectors play important roles in evading host immune responses and promoting intracellular survival. This review summarizes current knowledge on the roles of T1SS effectors in Rickettsiales infections and explores newly identified immunoreactive proteins as potential targets for a protective immune response.
