Summary: This study investigated the biodegradation process of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (DBS) using Chlorella vulgaris, revealing novel intermediate products and proposing a preliminary mechanism of DBS degradation. The process consisted of chain-shorting oxidation, ring-opening oxidation of benzene rings, and degradation of small molecules. This research contributes to the understanding of surfactant migration and conversion in the environment.

Summary: The clouding behaviors of Triton X-100 and sodium alginate mixture in different alcohols media were investigated. The study found that the cloud point values increased with the concentration of alcohols, and the clouding behavior was non-spontaneous. The standard free energy, enthalpy, and entropy of the clouding behavior were measured to understand the process. The binding of Triton X-100 with sodium alginate was studied using UV-visible spectroscopy, and the binding constant was determined.

Summary: This study investigated the potential interactions between the antibiotic ceftriaxone sodium (CTS) and the surfactant triton X-100 (TX-100) in the presence and absence of various sodium based electrolytes and hydrotropic salts. The results showed that the hydrophilic interaction was significant when sodium salicylate (NaSal) was used, but not significant when sodium benzoate (NaBenz) was used. Thermodynamic variables were calculated to evaluate the nature of the interactions, and the findings may have important implications for pharmaceutical formulations and understanding drug-surfactant interactions.

Summary: Azobenzene-containing surfactants have been widely studied for their use in generating photoresponsive systems. This research focuses on tail substituted azo-surfactants to understand how surfactant structure can be tailored for specific applications. The study reveals the significant influence of tail group structure and intermolecular pi-pi interactions on the behavior of azo-surfactants.

Summary: This study investigated the self-assembly of different types of CiEj surfactants by measuring their critical micelle concentration (CMC), aggregation number, and hydrodynamic radius. The results showed that temperature, surfactant concentration, and molecular structure all influenced the self-assembly of the surfactants, affecting their sizes and shapes.

Summary: This study introduces a novel cloud point extraction method for separating and enriching polonium-210 for alpha-spectrometric quantification. By optimizing the extractive behavior of diglycolamide-based ligands in various acidic conditions, a suitable CPE system for determining polonium-210 at ultra-trace levels compatible with alpha-spectrometry was developed. The methodology was robustly demonstrated by determining polonium ions concentration in various environmental and biological samples and solid certified reference materials.

Summary: This article focuses on the description of novel mixed system formulations of bis-quaternary ammonium salts (bis-QASs) and the nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 (TX-100). The study investigates the effects of changes in the structure of bis-QASs on adsorption and micellization, as well as the impact of elongation of the alkyl spacer on the cloud point temperature. The research indicates the potential of mixed combinations (bis-QASs and TX-100) for industrial applications.

Summary: A simple and low-cost method for the extraction and preconcentration of ARS-III and MR dyes was developed using efficient cloud point extraction with mixed micelles of TX-114 and CTAB. The method showed good recoveries, with thermodynamic quantifies indicating spontaneity and endothermicity. Temperature, surfactant concentration, and dye concentration all affected the thermodynamic quantifies, with recoveries ranging from 90.02-101.03% for ARS-III and 86.07-99.46% for MR dyes.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of different polymer molecular weights and temperatures on PVP and potassium formate or sodium formate aqueous two-phase systems, resulting in phase diagrams and liquid-liquid equilibrium data under different conditions. The phase composition and tie-line ends were determined by measuring density and refractive index, and the binodal data were fitted while the models were used to compute phase compositions.
