In order to realize microstructure and property control during thermo-mechanical processing of titanium alloys, the microstructure and texture of a hot-rolled near-alpha titanium alloy sheet were investigated. Results show that the sheet exhibits strong microstructure and texture heterogeneity. Supposing the Bunge Euler angle (0 degrees, 0 degrees, 0 degrees) orientation has [11 (2) over bar0] directions parallel to the rolling direction and the basal plane is parallel to the rolling plane: a) macrozones showing grain orientation of (0 degrees, 90 degrees, 30 degrees) are observed along the rolling direction in regions with few) beta phase particles; b) the recovery or recrystallization degree of grains with crystal orientations of (0 degrees, 90 degrees, 30 degrees), (30 degrees, 90 degrees, 30 degrees) and (70 degrees, 90 degrees, 0-30 degrees) in turn increased, showing the dependence of the recovery or recrystallization degree on grain orientation; and c) dislocation substructure ingrains with different recrystallization degrees exhibits various patterns, including dislocation tangles, polygonization, arrays, nets, and subgrain boundaries.
