Journal Title
MATERIALS CHARACTERIZATION

MATER CHARACT

ISSN / eISSN
1044-5803
Aims and Scope
Materials Characterization features original articles and state-of-the-art reviews on theoretical and practical aspects of the structure and behaviour of materials.

The Journal focuses on all characterization techniques, including all forms of microscopy (light, electron, acoustic, etc.,) and analysis (especially microanalysis and surface analytical techniques). Developments in both this wide range of techniques and their application to the quantification of the microstructure of materials are essential facets of the Journal.

The Journal provides the Materials Scientist/Engineer with up-to-date information on many types of materials with an underlying theme of explaining the behavior of materials using novel approaches. Materials covered by the journal include:

Metals & Alloys
Ceramics
Nanomaterials
Biomedical materials
Optical materials
Composites
Natural Materials.

Last year's article was under review for 4 months, and after a major revision, it was accepted. The editor is Professor Aude Simar from the University of Louvain in Belgium. I was hesitant during this submission and didn't choose an editor in the comments, so I was assigned to Professor Aude Simar again (must be a special fate...). One week after submission, it was with the editor for over two weeks. Because I had a pre-defense coming up, I wanted to get the results quickly. Yesterday, I sent an email politely inquiring about the decision and expressing willingness to provide any necessary assistance. Today, it was rejected (sigh): the volume of submissions was too high, and the lack of innovation in the article was overshadowed by the pressure to publish. It was a love affair.

There are many aspects to characterize the mechanical properties of metal materials. This time, the review process was average, with a total of two reviewers. The first reviewer accepted the invitation on the second day of submission, while the second reviewer took a long time and ultimately provided minor revision comments. After making the necessary modifications, the paper was accepted.

The editor is Professor Yu Qian, an electron microscopy expert from Zhejiang University. Thank you for the editor's patient support! Wishing the journal continued success!
