This letter proposes a switching-fault ride-through controller (SFRTC) for the grid-side converter of permanent magnetic synchronous generator-based wind turbines. The SFRTC switches between an observer-based bang-bang funnel controller (OBFC) and a vector controller via a state-dependent switching scheme. The design of OBFC does not rely on accurate system information, and it works with the estimates of high-order dynamics of system outputs obtained with a high-gain observer. The fault ride-through control performance of SFRTC was studied with hardware-in-the-loop experiments.
