Summary: The current study evaluated the anti-arthritic activity of n-hexane and aqueous extracts of Cassia absus seeds. The extracts showed significant inhibition of paw edema and reduction in paw size and joint diameter. The extracts also improved the levels of inflammatory and oxidative biomarkers. Polymerase chain reaction investigation revealed the modulation of various inflammatory factors by the extracts. In conclusion, Cassia absus can effectively alleviate arthritis symptoms by modulating oxidative and inflammatory biomarkers.

Summary: The study found that human amniotic epithelial cell-conditioned medium (AECM) significantly alleviated symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis, reduced infiltration of immune cells and levels of inflammatory factors in the conjunctiva, and increased levels of anti-inflammatory factors IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) and IL-10. The anti-allergic effects of AECM were mainly mediated by IL-1ra and IL-10, showing promise as a novel therapeutic strategy for treating allergic conjunctivitis.

Summary: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disorder in which cytokines, such as TNF-alpha and IL-17, play crucial roles. The modulation of these cytokines may impact disease progression and serve as potential biomarkers. Elevated levels of TNF-alpha and IL-17 are associated with high disease activity in SLE patients, although their inhibition as a treatment option is still under discussion. Further studies are needed to explore the therapeutic potential of targeting these cytokines in SLE.

Summary: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), also known as acne inversa, is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by painful skin lesions in various areas of the body. It affects about 1% of the population and is associated with comorbidities such as metabolic syndrome. Current therapeutic options for HS are limited, and novel treatment options are needed. Recent research suggests that immune mediators IL-1 beta, IL-17A, and G-CSF play a key role in the development of HS. Phytomedical drugs, which have potent immunoregulatory properties, have not been considered as a treatment for HS. This review explores the potential of targeting the IL-1/IL-17/G-CSF axis for an integrated phytomedical treatment of HS.

Summary: Approximately one in three ischemic stroke survivors suffer from post-stroke depression (PSD), which affects functional rehabilitation and quality of life. This study focuses on the stroke-induced hyperactivity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and its role in PSD. The review summarizes possible etiologies of PSD, including stress and proinflammatory cytokines release, and discusses the effects of HPA axis hyperactivity on specific brain structures, enzymes expression, excitotoxicity, intestinal permeability, microglial activation, neuroendocrine regulation, inflammation, and therapy options.

Summary: The study investigated the association of SNPs in genes coding for IL6, TNFA, IFNG, IL17A, IL10, and TGFB with disease severity in influenza A(H1N1)pdm09-affected patients. TNFA rs1800629 G/A allele frequency was significantly higher in severe cases, while IL10 rs1800896-rs1800872 G-C haplotype was significantly lower in fatal cases. IL-6 and IL-10 levels were significantly higher in fatal cases compared to survived severe cases.

Summary: The study found that serum IL-10 concentrations are lower in individuals predisposed to developing knee osteoarthritis following ligamentous injury and in those with severe knee osteoarthritis. The IL-10/TNF-alpha ratio is also lower in these groups. In the ACL group, serum IL-10 is significantly decreased while TNF-alpha remains unchanged.

Summary: The study found that individuals with chronic opioid use disorder had elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines TNF-alpha and IL-10, while IL-6 was reduced. There was a dose-dependent upregulation of miR-155-5p and miR-187-5p at opium doses greater than 1500 g/month, along with an increase in TNF-alpha and IL-10.

Summary: TNF alpha disrupts IL-10 signaling by inducing STAT3 dephosphorylation through a NOX2-ROS-Lyn-SHP1 axis in human monocytes, leading to prolonged inflammation. These findings explain the poor efficacy of IL-10 therapy in patients with inflammatory diseases and suggest that anti-TNF alpha agents and SHP1/2 inhibitors could improve the therapeutic use of IL-10.

Summary: BI-ALCL is a rare peripheral T cell lymphoma commonly presenting as delayed peri-implant effusion, requiring cytological examination, CD30 immunostaining, and T-cell clonality assessment for diagnosis. A Th2-type cytokine profile characterized by high levels of IL-10, IL-13, and Eotaxin distinguishes BI-ALCL from reactive seromas, with an IL10/IL-6 ratio cutoff of 0.104 showing high specificity and sensitivity in identifying BI-ALCL effusions. This study identifies potential biomarkers for early screening of late seromas to aid in prompt BI-ALCL diagnosis.

Summary: This study examined the impact of alcohol withdrawal symptoms on the efficacy of prazosin in reducing alcohol intake. Results showed that individuals with high alcohol withdrawal symptoms on prazosin reported significant improvements in alcohol use outcomes and associated symptoms compared to those on placebo, while those with low or no alcohol withdrawal symptoms did not show such benefits. These findings support further evaluation of alcohol withdrawal symptoms as a prognostic indicator of prazosin's efficacy in treating AUD.

Summary: Several reports indicate an association between psychiatric disorders and altered pain sensitivity. The pain threshold is generally reduced in patients with major depression, while lower pain sensitivity is observed in individuals with schizophrenia. However, limited studies on posttraumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders prevent clear conclusions. It is important to be aware of these pain perception abnormalities in psychiatric patients to improve their overall well-being.
