Summary: This study used Fluorescence Correlation/Cross Correlation Spectroscopy and Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer to directly analyze four different nanoparticle systems, finding surface heterogeneity to be a key factor in protein binding to these nanoparticles. The early hard corona is conceptualized as low-ratio, non-uniform binding rather than a uniform monolayer.

Summary: It was found that bovine serum albumin (BSA) and glycosylated bovine serum albumin (GBSA) prepared in a nature deep eutectic solvent system show stronger interactions with kaempferol (Kae). GBSA-Kae nanoparticles (NPs) exhibited higher zeta-potential values, lower polydispersity index (PDI), higher encapsulation efficiency (EE), and loading capacity (LC) compared to BSA-Kae NPs. Structural characterization and stability analysis confirmed the stability of GBSA-Kae NPs. This study provides a theoretical foundation for improving the solubility and stability of Kae during its delivery and transport.

Summary: Four types of bovine serum albumin (BSA)-based biomaterials were formed under different subcritical water treatment (SCWT) conditions, including gels, hydrogels, nanoparticles, and two-phase materials. Stable hydrogel network can be formed without additives or cross-linking agents during SCWT. The synthesized BSA-based superabsorbent hydrogels showed excellent water release capability.

Summary: Bubble bursting at liquid surfaces is a common phenomenon that has significant implications for interfacial mass transfer and global climate. In this study, the researchers discovered that when a bubble bursts at a viscoelastic surface, a secondary bubble can be entrapped without jet drop ejection, unlike what is observed on a Newtonian surface. They also found that the surface dilatational elastic stress from the viscoelastic surface can retard cavity collapse and damp out precursor waves, leading to wave focusing above the cavity nadir.

Summary: Bovine serum albumin nanoparticles (BSA NPs) are promising for efficient anti-cancer drug delivery due to their non-toxicity, non-immunogenicity, biodegradability, biocompatibility, and high drug-binding capacity. Understanding the structural/physicochemical features of BSA molecule and its derived nanovehicles, as well as effective variables in delivery mechanism, is essential for leveraging the potential of this carrier in cancer therapy. The review highlights recent advances in using BSA NPs for delivering anti-cancer agents and discusses the factors influencing the efficiency of therapeutics in nano-delivery systems.

Summary: Inducing bio-functionalization in noble metal nanoparticles is crucial for their biocompatibility in biological activities. In this study, ZnO/Ag nanoparticles were synthesized and their interaction with bovine serum albumin was evaluated. The results showed that ZnO/Ag nanoparticles significantly reduced the intrinsic fluorescence intensity of bovine serum albumin and induced conformational modifications.

Summary: Serum albumins are abundant plasma proteins that act as carriers for compounds like drugs. Polyamines like putrescine can interact with negatively charged molecules and affect the structure of bovine serum albumin. The formation of a complex between putrescine and bovine serum albumin alters its hydrophobicity and is found to have a spontaneous binding process.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction mechanism of the drug Bisacodyl with carrier proteins including Bovine Serum Albumin, Human Serum Albumin, and Bovine Hemoglobin, revealing static quenching mechanism and complex formation. The findings showed conformational changes in the proteins' structures and higher quenching effect on Tryptophan residue compared to Tyrosine residue. The spectroscopic studies were supported by computational analysis, indicating the formation of complexes.

Summary: The study found that at the oil-water interface, PA-2 can adsorb in the form of aggregates and exhibit a non-monotonic dependence on the dynamic viscoelastic modulus. The addition of 2-ME impacts the experimental results, causing protein aggregates to disaggregate and rearrange at a higher rate on the interface.

Summary: FTIR, fluorescence, and UV-vis absorption techniques were used to study the interaction between Cu+ and Cu2+ and bovine serum albumin (BSA) under simulated physiological conditions. The spectroscopic analysis showed that Cu+/Cu2+ could quench the intrinsic fluorescence emitted by BSA through static quenching with binding sites of 0.88 and 1.12 for Cu+ and Cu2+ respectively. The interaction was mainly driven by electrostatic force, as indicated by the negative ΔH and positive ΔS values. This study provides insight into the toxicological effects of different speciation of copper at the molecular level.

Summary: This study fabricated bovine serum albumin amyloid fibril aerogels, and by adding branched polyethyleneimine, the mechanical properties and adsorption capacity of the adsorbents were improved significantly. The maximum adsorption capacity of the aerogel was found to be 3.01 times higher than that of pure protein aerogel for Cu (II), and it also showed good adsorption quantity for other heavy metal ions and organic pollutants.

Summary: The research findings indicate that the adsorption properties of AES surfactants can be adjusted by changing the length of the shorter alkyl chain, while NaCl and mixing different lengths of surfactants can have an impact on adsorption behavior. Furthermore, the presence of AlCl3 results in the formation of surface multilayer structures, which varies in a complex manner depending on the chain lengths of the surfactants.

Summary: Recent developments in the study of self-assembled surfactant structures and multilayers at the solid-solution interface are presented, with a focus on surface structures formed from dilute solutions in the presence of electrolyte and in more concentrated solutions. While sequential adsorption methods using layer-by-layer approaches are well established for polyelectrolytes and their mixtures, the emphasis here is on self-assembly. Opportunities to manipulate wetting properties and generate enhanced wetting characteristics are discussed, along with potential applications in modifying wetting behavior, creating efficient near surface reservoirs for prolonged delivery of active components, and developing smart functionalized surfaces.

Summary: The limited water solubility of ionic surfactants at lower temperatures can be overcome by incorporating them into mixed micelles with another surfactant that is soluble at lower temperatures. By utilizing molecular thermodynamics equations, phase diagrams were established for binary surfactant mixtures, validating the general theoretical model.
