Summary: This study provides the first evidence of the interaction between PEG and HA in aqueous solutions. The binding of PEG to HA requires multiple free primary hydroxyls regularly distributed along the polysaccharide chain. Additionally, PEG-induced compaction of HA may be related to changes in plasma membrane properties and resealing of mechanical injuries.

Summary: In this study, a tunable infrared transparent microfluidic system with graphene plasmons was developed to identify nanoscale proteins. By adjusting the system's transparency, the infrared absorption of water was eliminated, allowing for accurate measurements of the proteins. This study provides a new platform for studying biological processes.

Summary: The study examines the interlinkage between ethylene glycol (EG), diethylene glycol (DEG) and triethylene glycol (TEG) in aqueous gluconolactone mixtures using volumetric and acoustic approaches. The densities and sound velocity of ternary mixes of (water + gluconolactone + EG/DEG/TEG) were measured at different gluconolactone concentrations and temperatures. Various volumetric and acoustic properties, as well as pair-triplet interaction coefficients, were calculated to understand the mixture interactions and the structure-making/structure-breaking tendency of glycols in aqueous gluconolactone solutions.

Summary: The Raman spectra of ethylene glycol (EG) and 1,3-propylene glycol (1,3-PG) aqueous solutions were measured and the diol content was found to have a weak influence on the spectra. The conformational compositions of both diols remain largely unchanged when dissolved in water. The intensity of the OH stretching band can be used to evaluate the chemical composition of the solutions, and the spectral region 2800-3800 cm(-1) is particularly useful for this purpose. DFT modeling confirms the prevalence of gauche-conformation of EG in water solutions.

Summary: The study reports on the synthesis and temperature-responsive properties of poly(PEGMA) hydrogel thin films. Surface-attached poly(PEGMA) hydrogel films were synthesized using a simple, versatile, and well-controlled thiol-ene click reaction method, with the transition temperature finely tunable by adjusting the number of PEG units. The LCST properties of the hydrogel films are not sensitive to salt, holding promise for applications in biology such as injectable hydrogels, drug delivery systems, microfluidic valves, and flow switches for biotechnologies.

Summary: Liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) in aqueous solutions containing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) methacrylate homopolymers is reported for the first time in this study. The temperature of LLPS is controlled by the length of the PEG side chain, the molar masses of OEGMA300(x), and the polymer concentration. LLPS is also observed in mixtures of OEGMA300(x) with Pluronic (R) F127. These systems exhibit thermally induced LLPS with potential applications in purification and water-in-water emulsions.

Summary: A multispectral fiber optic probe has been developed for simultaneous analysis of various liquid and solid samples using attenuated total reflection mid-infrared spectroscopy and fluorimetry. Technical evaluation has confirmed its output signal quality comparable to single-method probes, demonstrating the capability to deliver complementary chemical information. The qualitative analysis of biological tissue is highlighted as one of the key applications of this developed multispectral probe.

Summary: The Buckingham's function is proposed as a valid tool to approximate the polytherms Pi, i.e., the internal pressure of aqueous solutions of ethylene glycol and monoethanolamine. The study shows that the proposed modeling function accurately describes the temperature dependence of Pi for most aqueous solutions.

Summary: This study demonstrates the hydrophobic association of pPEGMA polymer chains and the ability to diffuse individually or in clusters through single-particle tracking diffusion studies. The clustering behavior can be tuned by adjusting the concentration and molecular weight of the polymer, as well as the polarity of the solvent. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the self-assembly behavior of polymers and their potential applications in contaminant removal and drug delivery.

Summary: This study investigates the solubility of polymers in hybrid solvents based on cholinium amino acid ionic liquids mixed with water, with a focus on the hydrogen bond capacity of the anion. The radius of gyration of polymers depends on the anion species and water concentration, with some solvents approaching theta solvents under certain conditions.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of poly(ethylene glycol) of different molecular weights on the mean activity coefficient of sodium chloride in aqueous solutions. The experimental results showed that the addition of the neutral component increased the activity coefficient of NaCl salt, while PEG decreased the relative dielectric constant of the solution, with the reduction depending on salt concentration. The effect of salt concentration was less pronounced for larger PEG molecules of the same weight fraction.

Summary: The transformations of Pt complex species in concentrated NaOH solutions were studied using various methods. The reaction was found to occur in two steps, with the first step greatly accelerated under blue light irradiation. The structures of [Pt(OH)Cl5]2- and [Pt(OH)5Cl]2- were determined. A formation model for [Pt(OH)5Cl]2- was proposed.

Summary: An automated system using a chelating resin called CM-PEI600 was developed for rapid separation and preconcentration of trace elements in water samples. The system employed an internal standardization technique for accurate and precise determination of trace elements. Recovery tests on various samples showed good results, and the method was validated by comparing determined values with certified values. The system allowed for simultaneous extraction and elution, making it possible to process multiple samples in a short time.
