The instant impact factors for the next 23 years were calculated as of June 29, 2023. The impact factors are as follows: Materials Today: 7.43; Nano Today: 5.07; Advanced Materials: 10.35; Advanced Engineering Materials: 9.07; ACS Energy Letters: 7.33; Energy Storage Materials: 7.47; Matter: 5.94; Joule: 11.32; ACS Nano: 6.07; Nano Energy: 6.51; Applied and Environmental Microbiology: 6.85.

It is predicted that the impact factors for the next 23 years, updated in June next year, will be approximately as follows: Materials Today: 21.3; Nano Today: 14.53; Advanced Materials: 29.66; Advanced Engineering Materials: 25.9. This means that Materials Today will experience a three-year consecutive decline, with a cumulative decline of 10 points. The evaluation of whether this is good or bad is subjective.

Indeed, this publication has a mediocre reputation. People around me often say that it's not worth paying attention to, and I haven't come across any articles from this journal in all these years.

dhtnumber1 2023-06-29

Buddy, I initially came to check the impact factor updates, but your infuriating comment made me laugh. Where did you see the "only accept invited submissions" in my comment? I can't remember exactly, but the original intention should be that it is primarily an invitation-based submission, but you can still write a proposal to communicate with the editor if you want to submit your own work. Because my review article was not an invited submission nor from a large research group, but it still got published in this journal. So your comment is incorrect, it's better for researchers to be more rigorous.

Replying to the statement below that AM also has connections, it is indeed true. However, when it comes to publication volume, at least the probability of giving opportunities to regular teams is still very high. The publication volume of MT is only one-tenth of AM, so how many of those insiders with connections can actually contribute? Generally, most small teams do not consider MT, and this is a fact.

Looking at the background, there are also a lot on AM.

First time submitting, the review speed is very fast, and the editor is very nice.

Famous relationship-based journals have low publication rates (with a total of just over 100 articles including reviews), and the proportion of reviews is disproportionately high. Furthermore, the submission guidelines explicitly state that only invited reviews are accepted. As a result, its impact factor dropped by 5 points in one go, and the bubble is bound to burst sooner or later. AFM has a publication rate of over 2000, with a low proportion of reviews, and its impact factor can reach 20. Journals like Nano Energy and ESM also have a publication rate of over 1000, with the same impact factor of 20. AM has a publication rate of nearly 2000 articles and an impact factor of 30+. On the other hand, Materials Today has just over 100 articles published with an impact factor of only around 20, making its impact factor questionable. Therefore, the impact factor of this journal can rise and fall dramatically. It will eventually fade away! The number of slots for first-tier journals is already limited, and such journals occupying these slots only increases the difficulty for ordinary people to submit their work. It belongs to the series of "taking up space without doing anything" journals, just like its sibling journal Nano Today.

2023/05/17 Submission, With Editor,
2023/05/23, Not reviewed, Transfer Offer, suggesting transferring to Applied Materials Today or Materials & Design. They want me to make a decision before 2023/06/21, but I haven't decided yet.

tzl6880 2023-05-18

May I ask how long it takes for the author to receive the initial review feedback after submitting the article?

tzl6880 2023-05-18

Could you please ask if the initial review results of this journal will be available soon? I am nearing graduation and need the results urgently.

The original research paper submitted has a slow review process.

Mid-November 2022 submission (Article);
Mid-December 2022 review;
Mid-January 2023 major revision;
End of February 2023 resubmission;
End of March 2023 acceptance.

Special thanks to the editors and reviewers for their support and assistance! However, it must be said that if Materials Today does not improve its processing speed and publication volume, it may be surpassed by AFM in the future. After all, AFM has a large number of publications and an impact factor of 20...

捷丰 2022-12-31

Excuse me, may I ask, which three transfer options did the original poster provide?

捷丰 2022-12-31

Hello, OP. I would like to ask, how long does it take for an article to change to "under review" after submission? It has been two weeks for me, and it still says "with editor".

风飞-2 2022-12-15

Hello, I would like to know if the status of a submission changes from "投稿" (submitted) to "送审" (under review), or does it remain as "with editor" even after being reviewed?

风飞-2 2022-12-14

Hello, will this journal submission be changed to "under review" or will it remain "with editor"? It has been 4 weeks since I submitted mine and it is still "with editor". Normally, isn't the review process supposed to take around 2.7 weeks?

嘻嘻哈哈1234 2022-12-07

It has been over 20 days since submission, and it is still "With Editor".... Why is it taking so long? ?

sagsfhfj 2022-09-02

It has been two weeks and there has been no change in the required reviews. What's going on? I'm getting really anxious.

卤牛 2022-08-16

It has been three weeks since submission, and it is still "with editor". May I ask if the chances of being reviewed are high? How long will it take to become "under review"?

卤牛 2022-08-16

It has been three weeks since submission and it is still "with editor". Is there a high chance of being sent for review? How long does it usually take to become "under review" for everyone?

卤牛 2022-08-16

It has been three weeks and it is still with the editor. Is there a high chance of approval?

May I ask which journals are suggested for submission by the editor?
