Aims and Scope
The Journal of the European Ceramic Society publishes the results of original research and reviews relating to ceramic materials. Papers of either an experimental or theoretical character will be welcomed on a fully international basis. The emphasis is on novel generic science concerning the relationships between processing, microstructure and properties of polycrystalline ceramics consolidated at high temperature. Papers may relate to any of the conventional categories of ceramic: structural, functional, traditional or composite. The central objective is to sustain a high standard of research quality by means of appropriate reviewing procedures.

The review process is indeed very fast, but the editing review is a bit slow.

6.13 with editor, 3 editors reviewed it. Online, it is said that once it is submitted for review, half of the success is achieved, but in reality, most rejections happen at the editing stage before it is even sent out.

7.02 required reviews completed
7.05 Major revision required. When I first saw the review comments, I thought it would be a minor revision. The reviewer's evaluation was also quite good, with 4 out of 5 comments being about formatting issues. I wonder why it is considered a major revision upon submission, perhaps due to too many formatting errors.

I hope this is helpful for those who are submitting to European Ceramics.

October 5 - Submission
October 6 - Preliminary review by the editor-in-chief
October 10 - Assigned to specific editor (revolution is halfway successful after passing the preliminary review stage)
October 12 - Under review
October 17 - Required reviews completed (the reviewers finished their work in just 5 days, a chilling feeling...)
October 25 - Feedback received, major revisions, 2 months (from thinking it was hopeless to having major revisions, still feeling happy...)
November 11 - Uploaded revised manuscript
November 14 - Accepted. The speed is really fast. From submission to acceptance in one month, impressive.
I am working in the field of ceramic glaze, a very traditional one. This is my 3rd paper in this field.
