JOURNAL OF SOILS AND SEDIMENTS

J SOIL SEDIMENT

ISSN / eISSN
1439-0108 / 1614-7480
Aims and Scope
The Journal of Soils and Sediments (JSS) is devoted to soils and sediments; it deals with contaminated, intact and disturbed soils and sediments. JSS explores both the common aspects and the differences between these two environmental compartments. Inter-linkages at the catchment scale and with the Earth’s system (inter-compartment) are an important topic in JSS. The range of research coverage includes the effects of disturbances and contamination; research, strategies and technologies for prediction, prevention, and protection; identification and characterization; treatment, remediation and reuse; risk assessment and management; creation and implementation of quality standards; international regulation and legislation.

I heard before that the editor of this journal is very responsible, the manuscript processing speed is fast, and the review comments are also very professional. It is also a mainstream journal in the field of soil and sediment, with a wide coverage. After writing the article, I submitted it to this journal first. It went under review three days after submission, which indeed had a very fast manuscript processing speed. After about a month, I received a major revision, and the review comments were very professional. Each comment was practical, and after making revisions based on the comments, the quality of the article indeed improved significantly. Two weeks later, I submitted the revised version back to the journal. The next day, it went to the editor, and the day after, it went directly under review again. Here, I would like to thank the editor for their responsible work attitude once again. Half a month later, the status was in "decision in process," and a few days later, it was accepted. The entire submission cycle took about two and a half months. The editor's handling speed of the manuscript was indeed very fast, and they were very responsible. The reviewers' comments were also very good. Thank you again to Professor Zhihong Xu and thank you to JSS journal. I wish the journal continued success!

The article on river sediment written by the guided undergraduate student was initially not expected to have much hope, but unexpectedly, the review process was very fast, and the first review result was given within two months. After a minor revision round, it was accepted directly in about half a month. It took 2 and a half months from submission to publication, which is very suitable for students to practice writing articles. I am majoring in physical geography and marine geology, and I am not very familiar with the influence of this journal in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and soil. I feel that the influence of this journal in the field of earth sciences is average, which may be related to its diverse content. Articles related to sediment and soil can be submitted, allowing for various topics such as soil, agriculture, environment, and rivers to be submitted.
