Aims and Scope
Since 1931, Brittonia, assuming the broadest possible definition of the field of systematic botany, has been an important outlet for the publication of original research articles on anatomy, botanical history, chemotaxonomy, morphology, paleobotany, phylogenetic systematics, taxonomy, and phytogeography. Each issue contains articles by the staff of The New York Botanical Garden and outside contributors, book reviews, and announcements.

The quarterly journal published by the New York Botanical Garden is a classic and relatively well-established publication in the field. It is a niche publication and worth the wait. The process from submission to acceptance took eight months. After acceptance, it took about a month for online publication, and then it took approximately four months to finally appear in print. During the anxious waiting period, I sent emails to the assistant editor, who frequently responded saying they were often in the field. As colleagues, we can understand this.
