Description
Founded in 1953, the Crotched Mountain Foundation, a charitable organization based in Greenfield, New Hampshire, is dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities and their families, embracing personal choice and development, and building communities of mutual support. Through specialized education, rehabilitation, community and residential support services, the foundation seeks to renew hope and restore lives for thousands of people annually in New England and New York State. In 1989, Crotched Mountain established the Harry Gregg Foundationin honor of the founder of Crotched Mountain to provide small grants to low- and moderate-income New Hampshire residents with disabilities for products and services not funded elsewhere. Since then, the foundation has made over eight thousand grants totaling more than $3 million. Some examples of products and services funded by the foundation include costs (up to $500) of non-reimbursed medical or therapy treatments not covered by insurance or other programs; specialty equipment services or supplies; modifications to living area, work site, or vehicle (vehicle repairs up to $500 with written estimate; lifetime limit of two); respite services to the recipient or his/her caregivers; costs of attending a special camp or other recreational activities; computers (up to $500) and adaptive software; and vocational academic classes or specialized (requiring vehicle modifications or specialized instruction) driver evaluation and training.Grants are limited to $1,200 but are often less, as award amounts are dependent on the number of requests received each quarter. For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the the Crotched Mountain website.Subject: Disabilities
