Commented on Naturopathic Cancer Treatment
This poster abstract states that " Significant differences were found in PWB, SWB, EWB and total score (P < 0.05). In all categories, the QOL subscales favorably increased from the pre to post values." However, although it might be assumed (the conclusion is that "These findings demonstrate that naturopathic rehabilitation can be a positive alternative treatment for cancer patients undergoing therapy.") that the direction favored naturopathic treatment, rather than standard medical care, but it is careless to leave that out.

Commented on Salvage Radiotherapy Versus Hormone Therapy for Prostate-specific Antigen Failure After Radical Prostatectomy: A Randomised, Multicentre, Open-label, Phase 3 Trial (JCOG0401)†
The authors' findings appear to support the addition of radiation therapy to hormone therapy, but does not address any gains in radiation alone, without hormone shots. Another consideration: PSA "failure" is only a marker for cancer cells remaining in the body, but it is important to note that clinical relapse failure and survival were the same in each group.

Commented on Why The Affordable Care Act Needs A Better Name: ‘Americare’
Obamacare stuck, seemingly without its intended pejorative implications. Also, most Americans seem to be able to remember Affordable Care Act. A non-problem, it turns out.

Commented on Land value impacts of Airbnb listings on single-family homes in Austin, Texas, USA
There does not appear to be enough evidence to be certain that, while "much of the change in land value can be attributed to unobserved factors within census tracts," and higher numbers of AirBnb listings are correlated with lower rates of land value increases, the phenomena are linked, or even which direction causality might point. Owners in hot neighborhoods may have fewer financial incentives to rent out their spare bedrooms.

Commented on Incidence, characteristics and clinical relevance of acute stroke in old patients hospitalized with COVID-19
This article describes outcomes among "old" patients, but nowhere in the abstract do the authors define what age parameters were used in enrolling subjects.

Commented on Foot Arch Height and Quality of Life in Adults: A Strobe Observational Study
Nice study. I am curious as to why this was considered as a possible QOL issue.

Commented on The effect of occupational exposure to noise on ischaemic heart disease, stroke and hypertension: A systematic review and meta-analysis from the WHO/ILO Joint Estimates of the Work-Related Burden of Disease and Injury
An excellent study, and should relieve any concerns of occupational noise and heart disease. The study could have been further improved by pre-registration with PROSPERO, and by explicitly using PRISMA guidelines.

Funding

Commented on Innovative Small Grants Program
This looks like a unique opportunity for independent researchers. However, they have not yet updated their site with 2022 dates.
