The role of stereotactic body radiotherapy in switching systemic therapy for patients with extracranial oligometastatic renal cell carcinoma

Cem Onal, Pervin Hurmuz, Ozan Cem Guler, Guler Yavas, Burak Tilki, Ezgi Oymak, Cagdas Yavas, Gokhan Ozyigit

Summary: This study examined the effectiveness of SBRT in treating oligometastatic lesions in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients. The results showed that SBRT is an effective and safe treatment option, providing favorable survival outcomes and delaying the need for second-line systemic therapy (NEST) change.

Prognostic Significance of Serum Human Epididymis Protein 4 Level in Patients with Locally Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer who Underwent Definitive Chemo-Radiotherapy

Guler Yavas, Sumerya Duru Birgi, Ali Unlu, Cagdas Yavas, Mursel Duzova, Serap Akyurek

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the prognostic significance of serum HE4 levels in patients with locally advanced NSCLC who underwent chemo-radiotherapy. The results showed that serum HE4 levels were associated with patient survival and progression risk, and could serve as an important biomarker for prognosis in these patients.

Treatment Outcomes of Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy in Patients with Synchronous and Metachronous Oligometastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma

Ozan Cem Guler, Ezgi Oymak, Pervin Hurmuz, Guler Yavas, Burak Tilki, Cagdas Yavas, Gokhan Ozyigit, Cem Onal

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the clinical outcomes of SBRT in the treatment of oligometastatic RCC. The results showed that SBRT had excellent local control and minimal toxicity, and there were no significant differences in survival between patients with synchronous and metachronous oligometastasis. Patients with solitary oligometastasis had better overall survival.

Radiation-induced Desmoid Tumor Development in the Radiotherapy Field in a Child With Pineoblastoma: A Case Report

Seyma Isik Bedir, Pinar Karabagli, Abdussamet Batur, Mehmet Ozturk, Hakan Karabagli, Guler Yavas, Yavuz Koksal

Summary: Although rare, treatment-related secondary malignancies are significant concerns following childhood malignant disease treatment. Irradiation-induced sarcomas develop in the radiation field as a different type of sarcoma from the primary tumor after a latency period of at least 3 years. Desmoid tumors as a result of radiation therapy are extremely rare.
