Summary: The study found that sorghum grass can serve as a host for Spodoptera frugiperda, but the intercropping system does not increase the pest population or cause leaf injury on Bt corn. Therefore, sorghum grass may be a potential alternative refuge in Bt corn agroecosystems, provided that management strategies are followed.

Summary: In this study, a protocol for polyploid induction of Ngoc Linh ginseng was developed using silver nanoparticles for disinfection and colchicine treatment for embryo induction. Tetraploid Ngoc Linh ginseng plants with larger stomatal size, higher stomatal chloroplast density, and better growth were successfully induced.

Summary: The induction of tetraploidy in in vitro raised niger plants using colchicine resulted in superior agronomic traits such as larger leaves, stomata, capitula, seeds, and seed oil content compared to diploid plants. The tetraploidization process could potentially improve the edible oil yielding crop Guizotia abyssinica Cass. by enhancing various morphological and biochemical characteristics.

Summary: Polyploid induction is important for the development of new varieties in horticultural plants. In this study, a protocol for in vitro polyploid induction of highbush blueberry leaf tissues was studied. Different concentrations of colchicine and oryzalin were used, and it was found that colchicine can induce polyploidization. The resulting polyploids showed morphological differences compared to diploids.

Summary: In this study, tetraploid black locust plants were induced by treating hypocotyls from in vitro-grown seedlings with different concentrations of colchicine, providing a simpler and more efficient method for tetraploid induction. Tetraploid plants showed significant differences in morphological characteristics compared to diploid plants, with stomatal size and density serving as stable markers for rapid screening of tetraploids.

Summary: A protocol was developed to produce tetraploid and octoploid Haemanthus albiflos plants through colchicine treatment of diploid immature embryo-derived calli. Somatic embryogenesis on a half-strength MS medium without plant growth regulators was used to induce tetraploids and octoploids.

Summary: This study focused on in vitro induction of tetraploids in Populus 84 K using colchicine treatment and examined the morphological differences between tetraploids and diploids. The results showed that the differentiation rate of adventitious shoots was significantly affected by the concentration of NAA and BA, with the optimal combination being 0.5 mg L-1 BA and 0.05 mg L-1 NAA. A total of 98 tetraploids were successfully obtained with an induction efficiency of 37.03% achieved by treating leaves with 50 mg L-1 colchicine for 3 days after 4 days of pre-culture.

Summary: Polyploids, including octoploids, are commonly used in breeding programs for horticultural plants due to their vigorous growth and enhanced resistance to stress. This study successfully induced octoploidy in Saskatoon berry through in vitro cultures, resulting in the first octoploid individuals of the genus Amelanchier. However, the octoploids exhibited slow growth and a tendency towards premature dormancy.

Summary: In this study, the effects of a single ABA spray on Arabidopsis seedlings were investigated. The results showed that the ABA spray increased plant biomass, delayed flowering, and enhanced drought tolerance. However, the enhanced drought tolerance was not inheritable and early water spray decreased mature plant resilience under water-deficit conditions.

Summary: The study focused on inducing an auto-tetraploid population of bride rose poppy using different concentrations and treatment times of colchicine, and analyzing the morphological and physiological traits of the induced tetraploid plants. The highest tetraploid induction frequency was achieved by treating seeds or seedlings with 0.1% colchicine for 48 hours.
