Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical features and prognostic factors of elderly patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Elderly patients differed from younger patients in various aspects, and factors such as chemotherapy and surgery were found to significantly impact prognosis. Special attention and treatment are required for elderly patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Summary: Younger PDAC patients (<60 years) are more likely to be male, have better performance status, undergo tumor resection, receive chemotherapy, and have a superior overall survival compared to older patients. However, when stratified for treatment, the survival outcomes are largely similar between the two age groups.

Summary: Surgical procedures for both primary site and other sites have been shown to improve survival in patients with PCL, with synchronous resection of the primary tumor and liver metastases (SPL) demonstrating significant survival benefit in well-selected patients.

Summary: In this study, two reliable predictive models were developed based on the SEER database to predict the risk and prognosis of pancreatic cancer with lung metastases. The effectiveness and accuracy of the models were evaluated using multiple metrics.

Summary: The study observed 343 male lung adenocarcinoma patients and found that those who developed another primary cancer after 6 months had improved survival, especially in cases of lung cancer with prior prostate cancer. However, lung cancer with prior bladder cancer had a poorer prognosis.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility of EUS-guided verteporfin PDT in ablating nonresectable locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC). Results showed promise for this minimally invasive ablative therapy in select patients, with visible tumor necrosis within 48 hours post-treatment. Patient enrollment and data collection are ongoing.

Summary: The study suggests that adjuvant radiotherapy has a significant survival advantage over surgery alone or neoadjuvant radiotherapy in treating resectable stage II pancreatic cancer. However, radiotherapy was not associated with survival benefit in stage I patients.

Summary: This study aimed to identify risk factors and develop a nomogram to predict survival in patients undergoing pancreatic cancer surgery. Radiotherapy was found to improve survival compared to no radiotherapy. A nomogram model was constructed using seven variables, and it showed good calibration and acceptable discrimination in predicting overall survival.

Summary: This study evaluated the association between time to treatment and survival in pancreatic adenocarcinoma patients. The findings showed that treatment delay was related to various factors such as age, gender, race, educational status, insurance type, medical center, comorbidity index, and chemotherapy/radiotherapy. Moreover, delayed treatment was associated with poorer overall survival.

Summary: The study indicates a correlation between BMI and oncologic prognosis in colorectal cancer patients. Underweight patients have higher mortality and recurrence rates, while overweight and obese patients tend to have better survival rates compared to those with normal weight.

Summary: The upregulation of PODXL and ITGB1 in surgically resected pancreatic cancer tissues is associated with a poor postoperative prognosis. This study found that the combination of PODXL and ITGB1 was the most accurate predictor of postoperative outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients, suggesting that preoperative neoadjuvant therapy may be indicated for patients with high levels of these markers.

Summary: The generalizability of perioperative chemotherapy trials for gastric cancer to older patients is uncertain. This retrospective cohort study compared the survival outcomes of patients >= 75 years with gastric adenocarcinoma treated with or without neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The overall survival was not significantly different between patients >= 75 years treated with or without neoadjuvant chemotherapy, but a higher proportion of patients >= 75 years did not proceed to surgery following neoadjuvant chemotherapy compared to younger patients.

Summary: This study examined treatment patterns and patient survival for pancreatic cancer in Korea. The results showed an increase in the rates of surgery and chemotherapy, with higher survival rates observed in younger age groups and patients undergoing surgery or chemotherapy.
