Summary: A retrospective study comparing clinical outcomes and adverse events by stent type found that LAMS had higher clinical success rates, lower adverse event profile, and shorter procedural time compared to FCSEMS and PS for WON. LAMS can be considered as an initial approach for WON due to its superior outcomes.

Summary: This study provides a comprehensive meta-analysis and meta-regression of features and outcomes of transmural EUS-guided gallbladder drainage. The results suggest that physicians' experience and the use of anti-migrating devices are the main determinants of clinical outcomes.

Summary: Endoscopic ultrasound guided-pancreatic duct drainage (EUS-PDD) is a technically challenging procedure for interventional endoscopists. It is most commonly indicated for patients with main pancreatic duct obstruction who have failed conventional endoscopic retrograde pancreatography (ERP) drainage or have surgically altered anatomy. EUS-PDD can be performed using either the EUS-rendezvous (EUS-RV) or the EUS-transmural drainage (TMD) techniques.

Summary: Pancreatic fistulas are a serious complication of pancreatic surgery, abdominal trauma, or severe pancreatitis, and can lead to various complications with significant impact on morbidity and mortality. This study analyzed the incidence and management of pancreatic fistulas in a tertiary referral center, with a focus on endoscopic approaches. The findings suggest that an endoscopic transmural approach using lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS) can be effective in managing pancreatic fistulas.

Summary: This study found that combining transpapillary drainage (TPD) with endoscopic transmural drainage (TMD) can reduce the recurrence rate and length of hospital stay of pancreatic fluid collections (PFCs) in patients with disrupted pancreatic duct (PD), compared to using TMD or TPD alone.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of a novel lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) in patients with postoperative pancreatic fluid collections (POPFCs). The results showed that EUS-guided transluminal drainage (EUS-TD) with the novel LAMS was technically feasible and effective for treating symptoms of POPFCs, with an acceptable adverse event rate.

Summary: This study investigated the role of antibiotic prophylaxis in endoscopic transmural drainage in patients with symptomatic non-infected pancreatic and peripancreatic fluid collections (PPPFCs) and assessed the influence of antibiotic treatment on the results of endotherapy in patients with symptomatic infected PPPFCs. The results showed that antibiotic prophylaxis is not necessary for effective endoscopic drainage of non-infected PPPFCs, and antibiotic therapy is also not required for effective endoscopic transmural drainage of infected PPPFCs.

Summary: EUS-guided treatment of pancreatic fluid collections requires high-level expertise, and this study found that higher hospital caseload is associated with lower in-hospital mortality risk. Higher caseload is also associated with lower risk of bleeding, shorter length of stay, and lower medical costs.

Summary: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsies are the best technique for sampling solid pancreatic lesions. This study aimed to identify the best biopsy technique to achieve the best tissue integrity and cause the least blood contamination. The results showed that the wet-suction technique had superior tissue integrity for lesions located in the body and/or tail of the pancreas, while the simple suction technique showed higher blood contamination.

Summary: This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of the Hot AXIOS system for PFC drainage in a multicenter Chinese cohort. The results showed that stent placement was successful in all patients and 93.3% of patients achieved clinical success within 60 days after surgery. The study found that a previous pancreatitis attack > 6 months prior was associated with a greater chance of achieving 100% remission of PFCs within 1 month.
