Summary: High fiber intake is associated with reduced risk of diverticulitis or hospitalization due to diverticular disease, with fruits and cereal fiber having a protective effect. However, vegetable fiber does not show the same benefit. Red meat consumption and a Western dietary pattern are linked to increased risk of diverticulitis. Alcohol use appears to be associated with diverticular bleeding.

Summary: This study analyzed the association between dietary fiber intake and acrylamide (AA) hemoglobin biomarkers in US adults. The results showed a strong inverse and J-shaped association between dietary fiber intake and AA hemoglobin biomarkers, suggesting that increasing dietary fiber intake can help reduce environmental exposure to AA.

Summary: Dietary fiber has diverse benefits on host health by providing nutrition for gut microbiota and affecting host health through microbial metabolites. This review focuses on the decomposition and metabolism of dietary fiber and the role of key genera, Bacteroides and Bifidobacterium, in dietary fiber fermentation. Dietary fiber plays a crucial role in obesity, enteritis, immune health, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. The correlation between gut microbiota and dietary fiber provides theoretical support for the precise application of dietary fiber in personalized nutrition.

Summary: This study investigated the association between percentage of body fat (PBF) and the risk of diverticulosis. The results showed that individuals with higher PBF, especially females, had an increased risk of developing diverticulosis. Additionally, bioelectrical impedance analysis may provide a simple, available, and radiation-free method for assessing the risk of diverticulosis.

Summary: The study aimed to understand the effects of dietary fiber on muscle quality parameters and sarcopenia. Analysis of data from the NHANES showed that increased dietary fiber intake had significant positive correlations with muscle strength, skeletal muscle index, and gait speed. It is therefore advised for sarcopenia patients to have adequate intake of dietary fiber.

Summary: Recent research has explored the significance of walkable urban design and social cohesion. The findings indicate that land use diversity positively influences social cohesion, while physical density, social density, and transit connectedness have a negative impact, particularly in densely populated neighborhoods.
