Second primary neoplasms in patients with lung and gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms: Data from a retrospective multi-centric study

S. Massironi, D. Campana, S. Pusceddu, M. Albertelli, A. Faggiano, F. Panzuto, V Smiroldo, V Andreasi, R. E. Rossi, I Maggio, M. Torchio, A. Dotto, R. Modica, M. Rinzivillo, C. Carnaghi, S. Partelli, I Fanetti, G. Lamberti, F. Corti, D. Ferone, A. Colao, B. Annibale, P. Invernizzi, M. Falconi

Summary: This study analyzed the occurrence of second primary malignancies in patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms, finding that the prevalence of second primary malignancies was not negligible, suggesting a possible neoplastic susceptibility. Overall survival was not affected by the occurrence of a second primary malignancy.

The genetic architecture of primary biliary cholangitis

Alessio Gerussi, Marco Carbone, Cristophe Corpechot, Christoph Schramm, Rosanna Asselta, Pietro Invernizzi

Summary: PBC, a rare autoimmune liver disease, is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. While GWAS have identified many variants associated with disease development, there is still a substantial portion of heritability yet to be uncovered.

The protease-inhibitor SerpinB3 as a critical modulator of the stem-like subset in human cholangiocarcinoma

Margherita Correnti, Andrea Cappon, Mirella Pastore, Benedetta Piombanti, Giulia Lori, Douglas V. P. N. Oliveira, Patricia Munoz-Garrido, Monika Lewinska, Jesper B. Andersen, Cedric Coulouarn, Laurent Sulpice, Caterina Peraldo Neia, Giuliana Cavalloni, Santina Quarta, Alessandra Biasiolo, Matteo Fassan, Matteo Ramazzotti, Matteo Parri, Stefania Recalcati, Luca Tommaso, Claudia Campani, Pietro Invernizzi, Guido Torzilli, Fabio Marra, Patrizia Pontisso, Chiara Raggi

Summary: The study indicates a crucial role of SerpinB3 (SB3) in mediating the malignant phenotype of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) and identifies it as a new therapeutic target. Overexpression of SB3 in the stem-like subset of tumor cells is associated with enhanced sphere-forming capacity, invasion ability, and poor prognosis in both mouse models and human CCA patients. These findings suggest SB3 as a potential target for future CCA therapies.

E. coli and the etiology of human PBC: Antimitochondrial antibodies and spreading determinants

Yao Yang, Jinjung Choi, Ying Chen, Pietro Invernizzi, Guoxiang Yang, Weici Zhang, Ti-hong Shao, Frank Jordan, Natalia S. Nemeria, Ross L. Coppel, William M. Ridgway, Mark Kurth, Aftab A. Ansari, Patrick S. C. Leung, M. Eric Gershwin

Summary: The study revealed unique epitopes in human PDC-E2 distinct from E. coli PDC-E2, suggesting a possible link between specific antibodies to ePDC-E2 and the development of PBC. Additionally, it was found that lipoic acid affects the conformation of ePDC-E2 and AMA recognition, potentially leading to the formation of anti-mitochondrial antibodies.

Effects of Varied Practice Approach in Physical Education Teaching on Inhibitory Control and Reaction Time in Preadolescents

Pietro Luigi Invernizzi, Marta Rigon, Gabriele Signorini, Dario Colella, Athos Trecroci, Damiano Formenti, Raffaele Scurati

Summary: This study investigated the effects of nonlinear and linear varied practice compared to a constant linear practice on inhibitory control and reaction time. The results showed that varied practice, especially linear varied practice, led to greater improvements in inhibitory control. It suggests that using linear varied practice in physical education classes may be the most effective approach to improving cognitive abilities in preadolescents.

Promoting Children's Psychomotor Development with Multi-Teaching Didactics

Pietro Luigi Invernizzi, Gabriele Signorini, Marta Rigon, Alin Larion, Gaetano Raiola, Francesca D'Elia, Andrea Bosio, Raffaele Scurati

Summary: This study examined the impact of linear and nonlinear pedagogy on first-grade children, and found that the mostly nonlinear approach improved motor creativity, executive functions, self-efficacy, and enjoyment more effectively than conventional teaching. The combination of 80% nonlinear and 20% linear pedagogy was found to be optimal.

Effects of Musical Classes on Motor Creativity According to Age, Sex, and Weight Status in Young Students: A Music-Oriented versus Conventional Education Plan

Athos Trecroci, Gabriele Signorini, Raffaele Scurati, Dario Colella, Gaetano Raiola, Marta Rigon, Pietro Luigi Invernizzi

Summary: This study investigates the effects of music-oriented and conventional education plans on rhythmic perceptive capacity, motor creativity, and skill- and health-related fitness components in young students. The results reveal that the music-oriented education plan significantly enhances motor creativity and competence in elementary and middle school students, particularly in balance and jumping-like activities. Additionally, the music-oriented experience seems to play a relevant role in expressing and exhibiting motor competence in relation to sex.
