Summary: This study aimed to describe interruptions in the pediatric ambulatory setting and evaluate their impact on physician communication, patient satisfaction, and recall of provided instructions. Results showed a high rate of interruptions in clinic visits, especially in visits with younger patients, but there was minimal correlation between interruptions and caregiver satisfaction, perception of communication quality, and instruction recall. More research is needed to determine the impact of interruptions and guide medical education on patient communication.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of early immunomodulator (IMM) therapy on the treatment outcomes of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (pIBD) patients. The results showed that early combo-therapy with IMM significantly prolonged the effectiveness of infliximab treatment. This is of great importance for optimizing second-line treatments for children with IBD.

Summary: This study investigated the immune response of immunosuppressed patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who were treated with different therapies after receiving the mRNA vaccine for SARS-CoV-2. The results showed that patients treated with anti-TNF agents had lower neutralizing activity and antibody levels compared to healthy controls, while patients on vedolizumab therapy showed no impairment in immune response.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of a novel opioid risk stratification process and identified key risk factors for predicting significant aberrant behaviors in patients receiving opioid medications. The risk stratification process is recommended for identifying high-risk patients in need of co-management, with additional studies suggested to further test the proposed risk stratification tool.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether adding an educational video could improve consent rates for remnant biospecimen donation in a clinical setting. Randomized patients were divided into two groups: one received printed materials alone, while the other received printed materials plus an educational video. The results showed that the consent rate for biospecimen donation was 53% in the group with the educational video, compared to 41% in the group without. Rating: 8 points.

Summary: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials shows that surgical patients are equally satisfied with remote appointments compared to conventional outpatient clinics, and they actually prefer remote appointments for future follow-up. Additionally, remote appointments were found to be more cost-effective for both patients and institutions in majority of the studies.
