Summary: Laparoscopic dissection of infrapyloric lymph nodes through the right bursa omentalis approach is both feasible and safe for achieving a more complete No.6 lymphadenectomy in gastric cancer surgery. Postoperative complications, if they occur, can be effectively treated with conservative therapy.

Summary: CD8+ T cell responses in lymph nodes play a critical role in anti-tumor immunity in human head and neck squamous cell carcinomas. These responses are associated with specific T cells in circulation and provide important insights for immune-based therapies in cancer.

Summary: This study identified high histologic grade, positive lymphovascular invasion, and stage pT2-3 as significant risk factors for regional recurrence in breast cancer patients. Patients with multiple risk factors had higher rates of recurrence and worse survival outcomes, especially when the number of retrieved lymph nodes was less than 10.

Summary: The study investigated the anatomical layers of fascia in infrapyloric lymphadenectomy during laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric cancer and analyzed the short-term efficacy of an anatomy-guided surgical approach. The results showed that fascial anatomy-guided laparoscopic infrapyloric lymphadenectomy enables complete removal of lymph nodes and mesentery in the infrapyloric region with reduced intraoperative blood loss.

Summary: This study compared the short-term outcomes of laparoscopic and robotic LPNDs. The results showed that robotic LPND had a longer operation time and more harvested lateral lymph nodes compared to laparoscopic LPND. However, both procedures had similar rates of postoperative complications and length of hospital stay, indicating that both laparoscopic and robotic LPND are safe and feasible for locally advanced rectal cancers.

Summary: The lymph node ratio (LNR) and log odds of positive LNs (LODDS) were found to be independent risk factors for recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with remnant gastric cancer (RGC). Even in patients with a small number of harvested LNs, LNR remains a significant prognostic indicator.

Summary: This study investigates the characteristics of isolated tumor cells (ITCs) in regional lymph nodes of early-stage endometrial cancer. It finds that deep myometrial invasion and larger tumor size are associated with an increased risk of ITCs. Additionally, patients who undergo sentinel lymph node biopsy are more likely to identify ITCs compared to those who undergo lymphadenectomy. Patients with ITCs identified are more likely to receive postoperative therapy.

Summary: This study found that a greater number of retrieved lymph nodes (RLNs) may not benefit the survival of patients with pT3 stage gastric cancer but can benefit the survival of patients with pT1, pT2, and pT4 stage disease. Optimal numbers of RLNs for each stage were recommended: 26, 31, and 45 for pT1, pT2, and pT4, respectively.

Summary: The study found that the presence of ENE was associated with advanced T stage, N2 subgroups, lymphatic invasion, and pneumonectomy. Multivariable analysis showed that old age, advanced T stage, N2 subgroups, and ENE presence were significant independent predictors of disease-free survival (DFS). The 5-year DFS rate was 21.4% in patients with ENE and 43.4% in patients without ENE.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the short- and long-term efficacy of laparoscopic D2 lymphadenectomy plus regional complete mesogastrium excision (D2 + rCME) compared to traditional laparoscopic D2 in the treatment of locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC). The results showed that D2 + rCME group had less bleeding, faster recovery, and no increase in postoperative complications. Particularly, for patients with tumor deposits, the 3-year disease-free survival rate in the D2 + rCME group was significantly better than that in the D2 group.

Summary: Following radical esophagectomy for esophageal cancer, patients who underwent thoracic duct resection experienced a greater decrease in body fat mass compared to those with preserved thoracic duct. However, there was no significant difference in muscle mass loss between the two groups over 12 months post-surgery. Thoracic duct resection did not increase the incidence of postoperative complications, but did increase the risk of chylothorax.

This report presents a case of idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis that mimicked malignancy, in which partial resection of the mass was performed, and the final pathological findings revealed non-tumorous tissue. The patient had a good postoperative course and remained free of recurrence after 8 years.

The results showed that frailty greatly impacted the prognosis of elderly patients with esophageal cancer, regardless of surgical or nonsurgical treatment. Summary: This study examined the association between psychological distress at each stage of esophageal cancer treatment and stress coping strategies. It found that while factors like 'fighting spirit' and 'anxious preoccupation' were strongly related to psychological distress before treatment, 'helpless/hopeless' became more strongly related to distress after esophagectomy. The study suggests that the relationship between distress and coping strategies is stronger than that with individual patient characteristics throughout the treatment process.
