Summary: This study assessed the dynamic segmental anatomy of the entire ascending aorta to determine a suitable landing zone and aortic sizing for thoracic endovascular aortic repair. Using electrocardiogram-gated computed tomography angiography, the dimensions of the aorta in systolic and diastolic phases were measured. The results showed that the ascending aorta had larger dimensions during systole, and the mid-ascending and distal-ascending segments had favorable forms for TEVAR.

Summary: In this study, we aimed to quantify the deformation of the thoracic aorta after ascending TEVAR. The results showed that the pulsatile deformation of the ascending aorta was damped by the endograft, while the native thoracic aorta did not experience significant changes.

Summary: The study aims to detail an optimized technique for the endovascular treatment of ascending aorta diseases based on TEVAR and TAVI procedures. The technique provides a standardized and reproducible method for endovascular repair, but new devices specifically designed for the ascending aorta may further facilitate the transcatheter approach.

Summary: This report presents a case of penetrating aortic ulcer in zone 0 of the ascending aorta treated with transcarotid endovascular stent graft, with the patient having a successful postoperative course without evidence of stroke. The transcarotid approach is highlighted as an optimal alternative access for endovascular ascending aortic repair in certain patients.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of reinterventions after previous endovascular or open abdominal aortic procedures with primary endovascular repairs. The results showed that reinterventions after previous endovascular repairs were associated with a higher rate of endoleak, while reinterventions after open abdominal aortic procedures had a higher all-cause mortality rate.

Summary: Endovascular repair has become the first-line treatment for descending aortic disease, but for patients with ascending aortic disease, open surgical repair was the only option until recently. Endovascular repair of the ascending aorta offers a life-saving procedure for high-risk patients who cannot undergo open repair.

Summary: This study reports the experience of applying endovascular stent graft repair to treat ascending aortic diseases in high-risk patients and evaluates the safety and feasibility of this approach. The results suggest that ascending endovascular aortic repair is a safe and feasible procedure for emergent aortic repair in carefully selected patients with prohibitive surgical risk who are not candidates for open procedures.

Summary: This study analyzed the data from consecutive patients who underwent F-BEVAR for pEVAR or pOAR and reported the mid-term outcomes. The results showed that F-BEVAR had comparable technical success and survival rates, with a controllable rate of major adverse events. However, a high rate of reintervention should be anticipated.

Summary: This study investigated the current status of catheter-based treatment for type A aortic dissection with the entry tear located in the ascending aorta. The results suggest that catheter-based ascending aorta repair can be considered in carefully selected high-risk patients, but further analysis and specifically designed devices are needed.

Summary: The treatment of ascending aortic pathologies has traditionally been performed with open surgery, but there are patients for whom this poses a high risk. Less invasive approaches using catheters, wires, percutaneous techniques, and stent grafts can be beneficial for these patients. However, the current technology is not specifically approved for use in the ascending aorta, and custom-made endografts are sometimes necessary due to size and design limitations of existing devices.

Summary: This study analyzed the long-term outcomes of non-reinforced RAA in two Austrian centers and found that it is a safe and feasible procedure with low rates of complications. The study also showed that aortic valve morphology has no impact on mortality after RAA.

Summary: This study analyzed the learning curve of a widely used stent-graft for thoracic endovascular repair (TEVAR) by examining procedural variables and their impact on long-term outcomes. The results showed that the learning curve was reached after 10 patients and the secondary outcomes improved significantly with experience. The Relay stent-graft demonstrated satisfactory long-term results with a short learning curve in a high-volume endovascular center.
