Summary: This paper presents a compact, portable, and selective chemical sensor for detecting hazardous vapors at trace levels. The sensor is being developed and validated within the EU project H2020 RISEN. The system combines a two-stage purge and trap vapor pre-concentration system, a compact MEMS-based fast gas-chromatographic separation module (Compact-GC), a miniaturized quartz-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy (QEPAS) detector, and a compact laser source to provide two-dimensional selectivity. The sensor is designed to be rugged, portable, and suitable for on-site analysis, with accurate response in few minutes and in the presence of strong chemical background.

Summary: The study found that taking mephedrone together with benzodiazepines significantly predicted HCV infection in patients. Patients with HCV infection showed increased liver enzyme levels, while taking additional mephedrone did not increase the level of liver enzymes in this group of patients.

Summary: The study found that rats exposed to mephedrone or amphetamine during adolescence showed deficits in spatial memory and reversal learning in adulthood, potentially affecting cognitive flexibility. Changes in MMP-9 levels induced by mephedrone were associated with the negative effects on spatial memory.

Summary: The paper explores intensified Chemical looping for Ammonia Synthesis (CLAS) as a process suitable for remote deployment at Stranded Natural Gas (SNG) sites, aiming to address the challenges in utilizing SNG. By systematically evaluating CLAS, promising chemical loops such as Ca3N2/CaH2, SrH2/Sr3N2, MnO2/Mn5N2 and MoO2/Mo2N are found, indicating potential for further research towards a distributed ammonia synthesis solution.

Summary: Despite potential, the automation of synthetic chemistry has only made slow progress in recent decades. In this study, we introduce an automated chemical reaction database with 100 representative molecules. Through robotic experimentation, over 50 reactions from the database were performed, achieving yields and purities comparable to those achieved by experts.

Summary: Deaths related to methadone exhibit a wide range of post-mortem blood concentrations, attributed to individual variability in pharmacokinetics/dynamics, subjective tolerance, and other risk factors. Findings suggest that lower methadone concentrations, in association with naive/non-tolerant state, pulmonary diseases, and presence of other drugs, can lead to death.
