Summary: This paper examines the contract design for competing manufacturers with multiple products. The study finds that individual contracting is optimal when manufacturers offer the full range of products with equal wholesale margins. On the other hand, aggregate contracting is preferred with a cost-plus contract that maximizes supply chain profit. The retailer prefers aggregate contracting with a large number of products or low consumer heterogeneity, while manufacturers have the opposite preference. Moreover, both the retailer and manufacturers favor aggregate contracting when there are few manufacturers in the supply chain. The research also shows that the supply chain efficiency loss induced by individual contracting reduces as the number of manufacturers or products increases. The study concludes by demonstrating the value of aggregate contracting in a hybrid setting with one manufacturer adopting aggregate contracting and the other adopting individual contracting.

Summary: The theory of Rational Inattention (RI) has been proposed in recent literature as an alternative to classical discrete choice models. This paper introduces estimable econometric formulations of RI-MNL and RI-NL models, and applies them to commuting mode choices in the GTHA. The empirical investigation shows that the integration of RI significantly improves model fit, with the RI-NL model outperforming the RI-MNL model and capturing asymmetric elasticities.

Summary: This study investigates the different approaches taken by pastoral and sedentary milk producers in the Northwest region of Cameroon after a disruption in the dairy supply chain. The results show that livestock diversity, land titles, and dairy-focused trainings are helpful for sedentary producers to continue milk sales, while pastoral sellers are encouraged by greater access to production factors and cooperative membership. Younger producers in non-urban areas are generally more likely to remain milk sellers, regardless of their production system.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the emotional response of consumers from Brazil and Spain to conventional products and their healthier versions, as well as the relationship with health consciousness. The findings showed that participants from both cultures had a higher preference for conventional products, but scored higher on health consciousness. Therefore, the food industry and government should consider cultural, emotional, and health-conscious factors in order to encourage the consumption of healthier foods.
