Summary: This study found that polycystic ovary syndrome is an independent risk factor for type 2 diabetes, regardless of BMI adjustment. Women with the hyperandrogenic PCOS phenotype face a higher risk of type 2 diabetes than those with the normoandrogenic PCOS phenotype.

Summary: This study found a significantly higher incidence of hypertension among women with PCOS compared to those without, especially among obese women. PCOS was independently associated with an increased risk of hypertension, further exacerbated by obesity. Including PCOS in hypertension risk assessments may help in early identification and management of the disorder.

Summary: This study compared the endocrine response to triptorelin in women with different reproductive conditions. It found that women with PCOS had a lesser increase in FSH levels compared to healthy women and HA women after triptorelin administration. Additionally, women with polycystic ovaries had lower FSH levels after triptorelin, both with and without ovarian stimulation.

Summary: The association between late bedtime, night sleep duration, and lifetime cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was investigated. It was found that both late bedtime (>= 1:00) and short sleep duration (<7 h/night) were independently associated with a high-lifetime CVD risk among women with PCOS. This study highlights the need for early interventions to improve sleep and cardiovascular outcomes in women with PCOS.

Summary: This study compared sleep variables in women with PCOS and controls, and assessed the impact of behavioral modification intervention on sleep. The results showed that women with PCOS had shorter sleep duration and worse sleep efficiency, but their total sleep time at night was within the normal range. Behavioral modification intervention reduced daytime sleep duration and improved sleep behavior.

Summary: This study compares the prevalence of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and related reproductive disorders between drug-naive bipolar disorder (BD) patients and healthy controls, as well as between drug-naive BD patients and BD patients with long-term medication. It also investigates the clinical metabolic correlates among BD patients. The results show that drug-naive BD patients have a higher rate of PCOS, and the use of valproate is associated with increased occurrence and development of PCOS.

Summary: The metabolic profiles of women with PCOS in Latin America are worse than those without PCOS in the same region, with higher anthropometric and metabolic parameters. Further studies evaluating metabolic comorbidities and distinct PCOS phenotypes in different Latin American countries are needed for primary and secondary prevention of PCOS in the region.

Summary: The prevalence, knowledge, and health-related practices of PCOS among women in Klang Valley, Malaysia were investigated. The study found that a significant proportion of respondents had poor knowledge and practice of PCOS. Education level and PCOS history were associated with PCOS knowledge. Married participants and women aged 40-45 showed better practice of PCOS.

Summary: In a 6-year follow-up study, it was found that the levels of certain miRNAs in women with PCOS changed, indicating a shift towards a less hyperandrogenic profile. These findings contribute to our understanding of PCOS and provide potential biomarkers for future research.

Summary: Anovulation is a common condition characterized by amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, and abnormal uterine bleeding. The most common chronic disorder associated with anovulation is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which affects 6% to 10% of the global population. Ovulation induction (OI) techniques are used in women with PCOS who are unable to conceive naturally. This narrative review provides an overview of the current evidence and available techniques for OI in women with PCOS, discussing their performance and applicability.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate visfatin as a predictive marker for insulin resistance (IR) and hyperandrogenemia in non-obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed a significant correlation between visfatin and IR as well as hyperandrogenemia, suggesting the importance of visfatin in the pathophysiology of PCOS.

Summary: The study revealed that infertile women with PCOS have lower serum PRL levels within the normal range, which are associated with a higher incidence of insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction. Additionally, serum PRL levels were positively correlated with HDL-C and negatively correlated with various anthropometric parameters, sex hormones, fasting lipids, and hepatic biological parameters. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that LH, LH/FSH, E-2, FINS, HOMA-IR, and HOMA-beta were negatively associated with serum PRL after adjusting for age and BMI.

Summary: Family planning programs in low and lower-middle income countries are facing reduced funding. Co-financing is an effective tool to promote national ownership and sustainability. When developing co-financing policies, macroeconomic and contextual sensitivities should be considered, and countries should be given sufficient time to transition. Encouraging domestic financing and establishing monitoring mechanisms are crucial for successful implementation.
