Summary: Frequent consumption of diet drinks, specifically those with aspartame, is associated with negative effects on fertility, including oocyte dysmorphism and decreased embryo quality. Aspartame consumption leads to disrupted estrus cycle, reduced anti-Mullerian hormone level, increased oxidative stress in the ovaries, and decline in mitochondrial function, which affects follicle preservation and steroidogenesis in granulosa cells.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical efficacy of Wenjing decoction (WJD) in the treatment of ovulatory disorder infertility (ODI) through meta-analysis. The results showed that WJD was more effective than clomiphene in terms of clinical efficacy rate, pregnancy rate, ovulation rate, endometrial thickness, and dominant follicle diameter. The combination of WJD and clomiphene also resulted in a higher pregnancy rate. However, due to limitations in the quality and quantity of the literature, further large-scale and high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to verify these findings.

Summary: During the COVID-19 pandemic, patients with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders receiving clozapine treatment had a higher risk of COVID-19 infection, although the risk was attenuated after adjusting for certain confounders. These findings provide support for the hypothesis that clozapine treatment is associated with an increased risk of COVID-19 infection, and further research in other populations is needed to confirm this association.

Summary: This article is a literature review focusing on the connections between lifestyle factors and ovulatory infertility. It discusses the relationships between diet, physical exercise, oxidative stress, sleep, supplementation, and ovulatory infertility, with special emphasis on obesity and insulin resistance. The classification of relationships between ovulation disorders and lifestyle factors is proposed, and areas for further research are indicated. The study shows that diet and physical exercise are promising areas for robust clinical studies, while the relationships between oxidative stress, sleep, and supplementation do not seem to be clinically significant.

Summary: The objective of this study was to establish conditions for hypothalamic suppression in women with normal and high BMI and to test the effectiveness of intravenous rFSH administration in overcoming dysfunctional pituitary-ovarian axis in obese women. The results showed that obese women exhibited ovarian dysfunction but pulsatile rFSH treatment partially corrected the hypogonadotropic hypogonadism of obesity.

Summary: The lifetime ovulatory years (LOY) are positively associated with nonmucinous epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) risk, implicating factors beyond ovulation in the development of EOC. The protective effects of parity and oral contraceptive use may not solely depend on anovulation.

Summary: As cancer patient survival improves, late effects from treatment become the next clinical challenge. It is important to estimate the risks of both morbidity and mortality simultaneously, partition these risks into different components, and incorporate multiple time scales. Multistate models and relative survival frameworks provide a method to study and quantify these risks effectively.

Summary: Overall incidence of ovarian, tubal, peritoneal, and undesignated abdominal/pelvic cancers in Sweden has declined since 1980. The median age at diagnosis has increased, with an increase in incidence of serous carcinoma. Survival rates at 1, 2, and 5 years have improved since 1960, but 10-year survival remains poor. Fallopian tube cancer has the best survival rates, while undesignated abdominal/pelvic cancer has the worst.

Summary: Women have better cancer-specific survival than men following haematological malignancies. The effect of reproductive factors on prognosis in women remains unknown and population-based studies are needed. This study found that parity and high age at first birth were initially associated with better survival, but the associations were attenuated after adjusting for other factors. The associations with reproductive factors were non-significant across subtypes of haematological malignancy. Additionally, there was a tendency of higher excess mortality for an increasing number of boys compared to girls among women with three or more children.

Summary: This study investigates the time trends of cervical cancer incidence and net survival in Sweden from 1960 to 2014. The results show that the incidence of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) decreased until 2000 and then remained stagnant, while adenocarcinoma continued to increase. The 5-year net survival improved overall, but decreased with increasing age and higher stage at diagnosis. There was no statistically significant difference in net survival between SCC and adenocarcinoma in recent years.

Summary: When analyzing cohort data, it is common to only consider one time-scale and include other time-scales as fixed covariates. This simulation study demonstrates that only modeling one time-scale can lead to biased estimates of survival proportions and hazard ratios, especially when there are non-proportional hazards on the second time-scale. Including non-proportional hazards and interactions with the time-scale is advisable when modeling only one time-scale.
