Summary: This study investigates the potential of a combination of 1-hexadecyl-3-methyl imidazolium bromide (C(16)mimBr) and monoethanolamine (ETA) as an alkali-surfactant (AS) formulation for enhanced oil recovery in carbonate reservoirs at high salinity, high-temperature conditions.

Summary: A new Gemini hybrid surfactant DFCS was developed to enhance the salt resistance and interface activity of fluoro-nated surfactants. It can be used as a cleanup additive in fracturing and an active agent in water flooding for shale and superlow-permeability sandstone reservoirs. DFCS exhibited lower interface tensions than current fluorinated surfactants at high salinities, showed temperature resistance below 70 degrees Celsius, and had large molecular area and strong spontaneity in micelle formation.

Summary: Mulberry leaf and mulberry leaf extract have various biological properties, including regulating sugar and lipid metabolism, reducing blood glucose, and increasing insulin secretion. This systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials showed that supplementation of mulberry leaf/mulberry leaf extract significantly reduced fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, and fasting plasma insulin levels.

Summary: In this study, the wettability alteration potential of cationic surfactant CTAB and anionic surfactant SDBS on carbonate rocks and calcite mineral samples was investigated. The results showed that CTAB had a strong wettability alteration ability on the calcite surface, but increasing the surfactant concentration did not necessarily improve the wettability alteration. The wettability alteration potential of CTAB was found to be correlated with the calcite content of the carbonate sample. Additionally, the contact angles slightly increased with increasing pressure and decreased with increasing temperature. The presence of carboxylate groups tended to make the CTAB-treated surface more hydrophilic.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of different surfactants on changing rock surface tension and interfacial tension, as well as their impact on enhanced oil recovery in tight oil reservoirs. The results show that fluoride FC-1 and GS surfactant have the potential to alter wettability and reduce interfacial tension. The study reveals that changing rock wettability is more favorable for oil recovery in tight sandstone oil reservoirs than reducing interfacial tension.

Summary: The study found that cationic gemini surfactants with different molecular structures have varying effects on wettability alteration in carbonate reservoirs, with the surfactant containing one phenyl group showing the best performance. The wettability alteration performance of surfactants is also influenced by factors such as bromine ions, and for low permeability carbonate rocks, it is an important parameter.

Summary: This study evaluates the use of nanoparticles in altering the wettability of carbonate reservoirs and compares their properties with those of an anionic surfactant. The results show that nanoparticles can help retain water-wettability during long-term oil production and have a higher retention rate compared to the surfactant.

Summary: The low oil production from carbonate formations can be improved using surfactant flooding as a tertiary recovery method. This paper reviews field projects and large-scale operations of surfactant flooding in carbonate reservoirs, studying the fundamental processes and interactions of various chemical systems. Choosing the right surfactants and polymers for these reservoirs is challenging due to their specific conditions.

Summary: A novel biodegradable surfactant was developed from Karanj oil, which showed promising potential in enhancing oil recovery efficiency through thermal stability and reducing interfacial tension. The surfactant effectively altered the wetting behavior of the sand surface and exhibited lower adsorption compared to conventional anionic surfactants. Sand pack flooding tests indicated that using the ASP slug designed with Karanj oil surfactant led to the additional recovery of approximately 32% of crude oil after water flooding.

Summary: Surfactant-based oil recovery processes are used to lower interfacial tension and change the wettability of rock in immiscible displacement processes. The key factors affecting this process are temperature, salinity, pH, surfactant concentration, and adsorption. Chemical enhanced oil recovery (cEOR) processes combine surfactants with other chemicals to exploit their synergy. This review study categorizes the role and displacement mechanisms of surfactants and discusses key factors for analyzing fluid displacement in porous media.

Summary: Studies have shown that a combination of interfacial tension reduction and wettability alteration is the main mechanism for increased oil recovery. Residual oil is divided into five categories based on location and form, and the effect of IFT reduction and WA varies on different residual oil categories.
