Summary: This study examines the factors associated with the decision of women carrying a BRCA1/2 pathogenic variant to undergo risk-reducing mastectomy. Results showed that women with a BRCA1/2 pathogenic variant, younger women, and women with higher breast cancer worry were more likely to opt for surgery. These findings provide valuable insights into individual differences in decision-making concerning preventive options and emphasize the importance of addressing negative anticipatory feelings in clinical care.

Summary: This study examined the factors contributing to burnout among female oncologists from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The prevalence of burnout was found to be high among this group, with the majority being young and in their early to mid-career stages. Factors such as being younger, practicing in North African nations, having a heavy administrative load, and having persistent thoughts of quitting were associated with a higher risk of burnout. On the other hand, engaging in hobbies and participating in oncology communication reduced the chance of burnout. Burnout support and education specifically for women in oncology are needed.

Summary: Breast cancer is a common cancer in women worldwide, with a small percentage of cases attributed to hereditary breast cancer genes. Advances in precision oncology have increased the demand for genetic testing and the challenges in delivering care for hereditary breast cancer include access to services, cost, discrimination, and lack of education and awareness.

Summary: The study aimed to explore counsellors' self-reported knowledge of technology in counselling, their attitudes towards integrating technology in practice, and the challenges associated with using technology in counselling. Findings showed that while counsellors preferred traditional face-to-face counselling, they were aware of the benefits and costs of using technology. Additionally, they were knowledgeable about the target population and mental health issues for online counselling.

Summary: BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations are associated with increased risks of various cancers, including breast, ovarian, pancreatic, melanoma, and prostate cancer. Men face similar risks as women but there is less research on the psychological factors influencing their engagement in BRCA1/2-related cancer prevention. This study explored the determinants of men's motivations to undergo genetic screening for BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations and found that intention was positively associated with self-efficacy, risk perception, and having offspring.

Summary: The objective of this study was to assess the perceived risk of breast cancer and adoption of risk reduction behaviors among female first-degree relatives of breast cancer patients attending care at the Uganda Cancer Institute. The study found that few first-degree relatives perceived themselves to be at high risk of developing breast cancer and did not seek risk reduction measures, such as screening and early diagnosis. Breast cancer health education, especially targeting younger women, should emphasize the increased risk of breast cancer in first-degree relatives.

Summary: The study showed high user acceptance and engagement with a clinical chathot that automates hereditary cancer risk triage in women's health care settings. Most participants completed the cancer risk assessment and educational section, indicating high acceptability among those who opted to engage. The chathot tool effectively identified high-risk patients for hereditary cancer syndromes before routine care appointments and facilitated a path towards preventive genetic testing.

Summary: The past decade has seen a record high demand for the expansion of genomic services. While technological advancements have strengthened the genetic and genomic pipeline, the main challenge remains in developing the workforce quickly enough to meet service growth. The international expansion of genetic counselling services, particularly in Asia, has gained interest, but the longstanding obstacles of personnel shortage and funding issues must be addressed. This review examines the feasibility of tele-genetics and tele-genetic counselling as alternative approaches to meet service demand, with a focus on the Hong Kong Genome Project.

Summary: The study found that pathogenic CDKN2A variants affecting the p16INK4a protein, including c.67G>C, are associated with increased PDAC risk, and carriers of such variants should undergo pancreatic cancer surveillance. Summary: This study sequenced samples from 60,466 women with breast cancer and 53,461 controls using a panel of 34 putative susceptibility genes, identifying associations between protein-truncating variants in certain genes and breast cancer risk. The results provide important information for genetic counseling and define genes that are most clinically useful for predicting breast cancer risk.

Summary: This study examines the perspectives of individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD) on the value of personalized prediction models (PPMs) for predicting disease progression. Most participants express a desire for more personalized prognostic information to better prepare for the future. They emphasize the need for individualized predictions, adequate supervision, and professional guidance. The availability of interventions that can positively impact the identified prognostic factors is particularly important to them.

Summary: Shared decision-making is a way to promote collaboration in therapeutic relationships, but little is known about how psychotherapists create opportunities for clients to share their ideas about therapeutic methods. This study used conversation analysis to examine how psychotherapists ask questions about helpful methods in early therapy sessions. The results showed that simple questions could invite clients' ideas, but clients may find them problematic. Psychotherapists could also provide scaffolding to support clients, but this may undermine clients' autonomy. The conversational practice of de-specifying emerged as a way to lessen pressure on clients and allow for collaborative contributions.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic literature review and meta-analysis on transactional analysis (TA) psychotherapeutic treatments. It found that TA had moderate to large effects on psychopathology, social functioning, self-efficacy, ego-state functioning, well-being, and behavior. Compared with control conditions, TA had moderate to large effects on these outcomes. Improvement in ego-states, self-efficacy, social functioning, and the client-practitioner relationship predicted changes in psychopathology. Treatments were more effective if they included systematic assessment, treatment stages, psycho-education, TA-unique techniques, and an experiential focus.

The results showed that medical specialists and nurses were most frequently considered as part of an IPU and reported high-quality interactions. Allied health professionals were less often recognized as part of the team and reported low-quality interactions. Differences in the quality of interprofessional collaboration were influenced by organizational structures, knowledge of each other's expertise, and communication methods.
