Summary: Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the world. The upregulation of CD36 and MMP28 has been associated with colorectal cancer metastasis. This study found that CD36 promotes colorectal cancer invasion and metastasis by upregulating MMP28 expression and enhancing the cleavage of E-cadherin.

Summary: High APE1 expression is associated with lymph node metastasis in cervical cancer and linked to epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). APE1 promotes invasion and metastasis of cervical cancer cells, while inhibiting APE1 may suppress EMT. Targeting APE1 redox function could be a novel strategy for inhibiting cervical cancer metastasis.

Summary: This study revealed that the decreased expression of KIF26A in gastric cancer patients is associated with disease progression, metastasis, and poor survival. By regulating the focal-adhesion pathway and suppressing the occurrence of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, KIF26A can inhibit tumor cell migration and invasion.

Summary: This study found that circHERC4 was significantly upregulated in colorectal cancer tissues, associated with lymph node metastasis and advanced tumor grade, and correlated with worse survival. Silencing circHERC4 inhibited proliferation and migration of aggressive CRC cell lines and reduced metastasis in vivo. Mechanistically, circHERC4 inactivated the tumor suppressor miR-556-5p, leading to activation of the CTBP2/E-cadherin pathway promoting tumor metastasis in CRC.

Summary: Exosomes derived from cancer cells, particularly those containing elevated levels of ADAM17, play a role in promoting the migratory ability of colorectal cancer cells by cleaving E-cadherin junctions. This finding suggests that exosomal ADAM17 may serve as a blood-based biomarker for colorectal cancer metastasis.

Summary: In this study, enhanced phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) was found to be associated with scratch-exacerbated atopic dermatitis (AD). The researchers developed a multifunctional hydrogel dressing that integrates oxidative stress modulation with FAK inhibition to synergistically treat AD. The results showed that the hydrogel can scavenge reactive oxygen species, reduce intercellular junction deficiency, and alleviate inflammation in mouse AD models with controlled scratching.

Summary: PCDH10 is identified as a tumor suppressor that induces cell cycle retardation and apoptosis in colorectal cancer cells, reverses epithelial-mesenchymal transition process, and inhibits stemness of CRC cells. PCDH10 inhibits AKT/GSK3 beta signaling pathway, reduces beta-catenin activity, and directly engages in negative regulation of EGFR/AKT/beta-catenin signaling pathway for tumor suppression.

Summary: Mice deficient in LCRMP-1 show reduced fertility and perturbed F-actin cytoskeleton dynamics via the PI3K-Akt-mTOR axis. LCRMP-1 is abundantly expressed in the testis and plays a crucial role in spermatogenesis. LCRMP-1 deficiency causes disorganized F-actin due to unbalanced signaling of F-actin dynamics through upregulated PI3K-Akt-mTOR signaling, leading to aberrant spermiation and reduced fertility.
