Summary: The study found that spinal cholinergic transporter CHT1 exerts antinociceptive effects in chronic stress-induced hyperalgesia by increasing acetylcholine synthesis and suppressing microglial activation. MKC-231 has the potential to be used for treating disorders accompanied by hyperalgesia.

Summary: The study demonstrates that conditioning with acute footshock increases bladder hypersensitivity and anxiety levels, with NMDA receptor antagonists in the spinal cord helping to alleviate this pain sensitivity. Additionally, inhibitory influences involving opioidergic and/or alpha-adrenergic mechanisms also play a role in modulating pain sensitivity caused by footshock.

Summary: A single dose of ketamine can alleviate fentanyl-induced hyperalgesia via the TLR4/NF-KB pathway in spinal cord neurons, as shown in this study. High-dose ketamine can reverse the expression of d-TLR4, p-NF-KB, COX-2, IL-1β, and TNF-α in the spinal cord. Additionally, TAK-242, an inhibitor of TLR4, and ketamine can attenuate fentanyl-induced hyperalgesia and changes in protein expression.

Summary: The study showed that mild moxibustion can inhibit the expression of P2X3 receptors in the spinal cord, ACC, and VPL tissues of IBS visceral hyperalgesia model rats, which may be the mechanism of mild moxibustion in relieving central sensitization in rats with IBS visceral hyperalgesia.

Summary: Herb-partitioned moxibustion at CV 6 and ST 25 can reduce colon damage, alleviate colon shortening, and suppress colonic inflammation in Crohn's disease rats by inhibiting the ATP content, P2X7R, Pannexin-1, and NF-kappa Bp65 expression, leading to decreased release of IL-1 beta. This study identifies a novel mechanism for herb-partitioned moxibustion in inhibiting the abnormal activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in Crohn's disease rats.

Summary: Electroacupuncture (EA) treatment has a regulatory effect on ocular surface function and the corneal ROS/TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammatory signaling pathway in dry eye syndrome (DES) model rats, significantly improving corneal injury by inhibiting the inflammatory signaling pathway.

Summary: This study aimed to observe the intervention effect of auricular point sticking on dry eye in myopia patients after SMILE surgery. The results showed that auricular point sticking therapy can increase tear film break-up time and accelerate the repair of ocular surface function in post-SMILE patients, indicating its potential in managing dry eye in this population.

Summary: This study found that SARS-CoV-2 can be detected on the ocular surface of COVID-19 patients in the early phase of the disease, especially soon after symptom onset. However, patients hospitalized for more than 2 weeks had negative test results for conjunctival swabs.
