Summary: This study investigates the differential protein profiles of plasma between calves with dampness heat diarrhea (DHD) and clinically healthy calves. The results suggest that the differential expression of plasma proteins is associated with DHD pathogenesis in calves. Fibronectin precursor (FN1) and apolipoprotein C-IV precursor (APOC4) are potential clinical biomarkers for the diagnosis of DHD in calves. Additionally, the intestinal immune network of IgA production, caffeine metabolism, purine metabolism, and PI3K signaling pathway may serve as candidate targets for treating DHD in calves.

Summary: A machine learning model for pattern differentiation of dampness-heat type 2 diabetes mellitus with Chinese medicine (CM) was established. The XGBoost model showed the best performance, providing a tool for CM practitioners to make quick diagnosis decisions and contributing to the standardization and international application of CM patterns.

Summary: The study found that different sizes of polyethylene plastics have an impact on the health status of fish, with smaller particles causing a greater impact. The penetration of particles into the circulatory system, triggering biochemical responses, and causing tissue damage may explain the more considerable impact of nano-particles compared to micro- and macro-particles.

Summary: The incidences of obesity and related metabolic disorders have increased dramatically worldwide. Dampness-heat syndrome in traditional Chinese medicine plays a crucial role in clinical treatment, with hypoxia and inflammation being key pathophysiological characteristics of this syndrome. The modernization of traditional Chinese medicine theories is promoted by applying modern Western medicine theories to explain these pathophysiological mechanisms.

Summary: This study identified serum miRNA profiles of patients with Spleen-stomach dampness-heat syndrome in chronic hepatitis B and chronic gastritis. The common SDE-miRNAs, hsa-miR-483-3p and hsa-miR-223-3p, were found to be involved in inflammation, immune response, and tumorigenesis. The study suggests a potential biological basis for the syndrome and supports the application of the same TCM prescription in both chronic hepatitis B and chronic gastritis.

Summary: The study investigates the microstructural and mechanical properties of enamel coating after different heat treatment periods. Refractory crystals precipitate from the parent enamel, leading to increased compressive residual stresses and the fish-scaling failure of enamel. The slit method with GPA under FIB/SEM system is found to be more reliable in characterizing residual stress of enamel coating compared to traditional XRD method.

Summary: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a global health problem, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has shown potential in its treatment. This article summarizes the research and evidence on the effectiveness of herbal therapy for NAFLD or NASH, and attempts to establish the links between TCM theory and modern pharmacological mechanisms. It provides ideas and perspectives for further exploration of the pathogenesis of NAFLD and herbal therapy, promoting the scientific connotation of TCM theories and the modernization of TCM.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the pathological mechanism of intestinal mucosal barrier injury in large intestine dampness-heat syndrome (LIDHS) and the protective effect of Yujin powder (YJP). The LIDHS rat model was established and treated with YJP. The results showed that the intestinal mucosal barrier was damaged in LIDHS rats, and certain genes and proteins were abnormally expressed. After treatment with YJP, the mucosal integrity was restored, and the expression levels of related indicators and genes and proteins were regulated.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the potential role of miRNAs as biomarkers for identifying women with different ovarian reserves, and found that the abundance level of miRNAs is significantly correlated with the AMH level. Specific miRNAs were identified as having predictive value for changes in AMH levels, suggesting their potential as diagnostic tools for ovarian reserve assessment.
