Summary: The study found that ambient temperature and material surface temperature play a crucial role in children's thermal sensation. Suitable thermal benchmarks for children and bioclimatic design strategies were proposed, providing guidelines for urban planners and landscape architects to create age-appropriate open spaces in China's cold region.

Summary: The study found that in high-density central areas of Harbin, air temperature and environmental temperature have a significant impact on outdoor thermal comfort, with preferred temperatures of 24.8 degrees Celsius in summer and 23.5 degrees Celsius in the transition season. Residents in severe cold areas have psychologically adapted to the cold environment and are less sensitive to low temperatures due to long-term exposure.

Summary: Cold stress has significant effects on the growth and latex yield of rubber trees. This study identified the HbBIN2 gene in Hevea brasiliensis and found that it functions as a suppressor of cold stress resistance by modulating the transcriptional activity of HbICE1 and ROS homeostasis.

Summary: The study investigated the carbon-water coupling of rubber trees and found significant changes in WUE during different seasons and under the influence of cold stress and hail events. Cold stress caused a decrease in the strength of carbon-water coupling in rubber trees, while hail events severely disrupted the WUE pattern.

Summary: The development of non-destructive methods for early detection of cold stress of plants and the identification of cold-tolerant cultivars is highly needed in crop breeding programs. In this study, soybean leaves' spectra were obtained to understand the role of the water molecular system in the early cold stress response of all cultivars. The results showed major changes in the water molecular structure of the soybean leaves, altered carbohydrate and oxidative metabolism, and differences in the cold stress response of different cultivars.

Summary: Seed priming with moringa leaf extract has been shown to improve the speed and spread of emergence of rice seedlings, particularly with the extract from the Faisalabad landrace. This study highlights the potential of moringa leaf extract as a seed priming agent for enhancing the establishment and growth of rice under both normal and water deficit conditions.

Summary: Exposure of Arabidopsis to cold temperature imprints a memory that modulates gene expression in response to subsequent stress. This memory is associated with the downregulation of NADPH dehydrogenase and ATP synthase, which is mediated by thylakoid ascorbate peroxidase.

Summary: This study estimates the internal heating rates and depths to possible subsurface oceans for 17 cold ocean planets. It also investigates the potential for tidally driven cryovolcanism and exosphere formation on these planets. The results show that all the planets in the study may have subsurface oceans and their geological activity rates may exceed those of Jupiter's moon Europa. Proxima Cen b and LHS 1140 b are the most favorable candidates for telescopic detection of explosive, tidally driven cryovolcanism.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the immune-enhancing effects of red Platycodon grandiflorus root extract (RPGE) in healthy subjects. The results showed that RPGE increased NK cell activity and IFN-gamma level, suggesting its efficacy and safety in enhancing immune function. Additionally, the study did not find any clinically significant changes or serious adverse events in the safety assessment.
