Summary: The research team designed and pilot-tested a multimedia software platform to support the long-term management of HIV patients and increase focus on HRQL issues. Results showed that most respondents found the application easy to use and comprehend, but older Australians had lower scores in understanding the visual interface and finding the buttons organized. Concerns about confidentiality were prevalent, especially among participants with higher anxiety and stress scores.

Summary: A set of quality indicators for the healthcare of older adults with multimorbidity was developed and validated in the MULTIqual project. The selected indicators demonstrated good structural validity and feasibility. These indicators are important for improving the quality of care for older adults with multiple chronic conditions.

Summary: This study explored the relationship between pulmonary regurgitation and quality of life and health status in adults with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), and found that with advancing age, patients reported more problems in mobility and pain or discomfort. Factors associated with superior patient-reported outcomes include race, syndrome, employment, and left ventricular function, while being asymptomatic was found to have the greatest impact on quality of life and health status.

Summary: The study developed a new Achalasia Patient-Reported Outcomes (APRO) Questionnaire, identified three subscales through investigation of patients with normal motility and achalasia, and found that symptom anxiety and hypervigilance moderate the relationship between APRO and quality of life.

Summary: Considerable research and investment have been devoted to the use of electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) in nephrology. However, there is still a lack of systematic collection of ePROs to guide the care of patients with chronic kidney disease. A change in culture is needed to promote wider adoption of ePROs in clinical practice.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between palliative care, patient-reported measures, and outcomes in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis. The results showed that patients who received palliative care had more severe disease and functional impairment, and palliative care may be associated with reduced utilization and increased completion of advanced directives.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) in healthcare, focusing on the psychometric properties of tools validated for stroke patients. Findings indicated the existence of specific PREMs and generic PREMs for stroke care, with only one showing favorable psychometric performance, suggesting the need for further development in this area.

Summary: Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are useful in assessing the subjective experiences of childhood cancer survivors and can be used to monitor health status and inform medical decision making. This article provides 10 important considerations for clinicians when assessing PROMs for childhood cancer survivors, addressing practical barriers and solutions. An example framework for integrating PROMs into clinical workflow using cutting-edge technologies is also discussed.

Summary: Despite a lack of credible evidence, the overall results suggest that IPC may have a positive impact on patient-reported outcomes. Due to high clinical heterogeneity and risk of bias, more rigorous studies are needed to answer the question of the effectiveness of IPC.

Summary: This study provides the first assessment of patient-reported outcomes in chronic hepatitis D (CHD) patients, showing significant impairment in some domains of health-related quality of life questionnaire compared to those with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Further studies in larger cohorts with longer follow-up are needed to fully evaluate the impact of CHD on patient-reported quality of life.

Summary: The need to support innovation in health care delivery has been driven by payment reforms and access to digital tools, and has been accelerated by the shift to virtual care as a response to COVID-19 pandemic. Innovation centers have been set up by health systems to create new services and explore new business models for value-based care. There are various strategies employed by these centers to improve patient outcomes and experience while reducing costs.

Summary: Recent data suggests increasing hesitancy towards both COVID-19 and influenza vaccination. Among US adults, acceptance rates for a COVID-19 booster alone, an influenza vaccine alone, and a combination influenza-COVID-19 booster vaccine were 45%, 58%, and 50% respectively. Acceptance was lower among female, Black/African American, Native American/American Indian, and rural respondents, while higher acceptance was found among those with college and post-graduate degrees.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of accelerated vaccination on reducing hospitalization and deaths in the northeastern and southern regions of the US. The results showed that a 50% increase in daily vaccine doses could prevent a substantial number of hospitalizations and deaths between September 2021 and the end of March 2022. Southern states had higher numbers of hospitalizations and lives saved compared to northeastern states.

Summary: This article introduces a novel analytical approach for underpowered randomized controlled trials, which addresses the issue of low participant enrollment or engagement. The Distillation Method increases the power of the trial by redefining the estimand to subpopulations with higher enrollment probabilities and stronger treatment effects, while maintaining the original randomization.
