Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated the results of Retzius-Sparing robot-assisted radical Prostatectomy (RSP) in high-risk prostate cancer (HR-PCa) patients, performed by expert surgeons in a multicentric setting. The study found that RSP achieved good urinary continence recovery and could predict the occurrence of positive surgical margins (PSMs) to some extent.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy and safety of robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RARP) performed using the KangDuo surgical robot system to the da Vinci Si robotic system in clinically localized prostate cancer (KD-RARP vs DV-RARP). The results showed that there were no significant differences between the two groups in basic clinical characteristics, but KD-RARP had a significantly longer operation time. There were also no significant differences between the two groups in terms of postoperative outcomes. Overall, the KangDuo surgical robot system achieved similar short-term oncological and functional outcomes compared to the da Vinci Si robotic system, but with a disadvantage in operation time.

Summary: This study examined the correlation between perioperative testosterone levels and genomic risk scores in men undergoing radical prostatectomy. It found that there was no clinical correlation between pre-defined genomic risk score groups and testosterone groups, suggesting a limited role of endogenous testosterone in the development of de novo high-risk localized prostate cancer.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of neoadjuvant therapy with a novel hormonal agent (NHA) prior to radical prostatectomy (RP) and up-front RP in patients with high-risk prostate cancer (HRPC). After adjusting for potential confounding factors, the neoadjuvant RP group showed longer time to biochemical recurrence (BCR) and superior metastasis-free survival (MFS) compared to the up-front RP group. The rates of adjuvant and salvage therapy were also lower in the neoadjuvant RP cohort.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of robotic partial nephrectomy (RPN) and laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) for treating complex renal tumors. The results showed that RPN was associated with shorter operative time, warm ischemia time, length of stay, lower transfusion rate, and incidence of intraoperative complications compared to LPN, while maintaining oncological control and avoiding renal function decline.

Summary: The pathological grade of prostate cancer is the strongest predictor of recurrence. This study aims to determine whether the composite or index grade group is a better predictor of biochemical recurrence (BCR) in prostate cancer patients who underwent radical prostatectomy. The results showed that patients with a higher index grade group had a higher risk of BCR. Therefore, the index grade group should be used for post-operative counseling regarding prognosis and follow-up.

Summary: Our study found that the urinary microbiome of male bladder cancer patients collected from catheterized urine samples is characterized by an increased abundance of Veillonella and Corynebacterium, and decreased Ruminococcus compared to controls. Different taxonomic profiles were observed in bladder washouts and midstream urines, with specific taxa showing enrichment in each sample type. These findings suggest potential diagnostic and therapeutic implications based on manipulation of the urinary microbiome.

Summary: This study aims to provide guidance on prioritization and management pathways for patients with non-metastatic prostate cancer experiencing delays in surgical treatment and identify ways to reduce infection risk during the COVID-19 pandemic. Summary: Ultrasound-guided transperineal laser ablation (TPLA) seems to be a promising minimally invasive surgical therapy for treating lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The procedure was well tolerated by patients, resulting in significant reductions in prostate volume and improvements in IPSS scores and maximal flow rate at 3, 6, and 12 months post-operation follow-up. Further long-term results and comparative studies are needed to fully assess its effectiveness compared to standard treatments.

Summary: The study compared peri-operative outcomes of patients undergoing robot-assisted partial nephrectomy for imperative vs elective indications. No significant differences were found in ischaemia time, operating time, estimated blood loss, rate of blood transfusions, or Clavien-Dindo complications between the two groups. However, a greater decrease in postoperative estimated glomerular filtration rate was observed in the imperative indication group.

Summary: This study compared the diagnostic accuracy of 29-MHz high-resolution micro-ultrasound (mUS) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in differentiating non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) and muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). The results showed that mUS had a better performance in distinguishing NMIBC from MIBC. However, the main limitation of mUS was its probe shape, which made its use problematic in cases with a large prostate and inadequate rectal preparation.

Summary: In this study, the performance of the Briganti 2012 and Briganti 2019 nomograms in predicting lymph node invasion (LNI) was externally validated and compared. The results showed that the updated Briganti 2019 nomogram, which included MRI and MRI-targeted biopsy data, was not significantly more accurate than the 2012 model in predicting LNI. This suggests a negligible role of mpMRI in the current population.
