We describe the implementation of supersymmetric models in PYTHIA 8 including production and decay of superparticles and allowing for violation of flavour, CP, and R-parity. We also present a framework for importing generic new-physics matrix elements into PYTHIA 8, in a way suitable for use with automated tools. We emphasize that this possibility should not be viewed as the only way to implement new-physics models in PYTHIA 8, but merely as an additional possibility on top of the already existing ones. Finally we address parton showers in exotic colour topologies, in particular ones involving colour-epsilon tensors and colour sextets.

A study of QCD radiation in VBF Higgs production with VINCIA and PYTHIA

Stefan Hoche, Stephen Mrenna, Shay Payne, Christian T. Preuss, Peter Skands

Summary: In this paper, we discuss and illustrate the properties of several parton-shower algorithms available in PYTHIA and VINCIA in the context of Higgs production via vector boson fusion (VBF). We study a set of observables sensitive to the coherent radiation pattern of additional jets and compare different algorithms. Additionally, we investigate the robustness of these predictions as higher-order perturbative matrix elements are incorporated.

Summary: We analyze a class of models with an extra U(1)(X) gauge symmetry that explain the b -> sll anomalies and generate appropriate quark and neutrino mixing. These models, with specific constraints and parameter space, are consistent with the latest experimental data.

Towards NNLO plus PS matching with sector showers

John M. Campbell, Stefan Hoche, Hai Tao Li, Christian T. Preuss, Peter Skands

Summary: We propose a new technique for fully-differential matching of final-state parton showers to NNLO calculations, focusing on the case of leptonic collisions with two final-state jets. The strategy is enabled by using the antenna formalism for NNLO antenna subtraction and the sector-antenna framework for the shower. Negative weights can be eliminated from the matching scheme as long as the combined real-virtual and double-real corrections do not overcompensate the real-emission term in the three-jet region. We describe the implementation of all necessary components in the VINCIA antenna shower in PyTHIA 8.3.

Axion-like particles as mediators for dark matter: beyond freeze-out

A. Bharucha, F. Brummer, N. Desai, S. Mutzel

Summary: Examined an axion-like particle as a mediator between Standard Model and dark matter, considering constraints from various experiments and cosmology. Found that when the couplings are small, dark matter is generated through decoupled freeze-out. Improved the calculation of relic density using coupled Boltzmann equations.

Summary: Particle physics is at a crossroads, as the completion of the Standard Model and the observation of anomalies beyond the model offer both opportunities and challenges for future research. Systemic deficiencies in experiments and search strategies may hinder the discovery of beyond the Standard Model physics, but new search strategies utilizing CERN open data can help uncover hidden signatures. Access to open data is crucial for fully exploiting the potential of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
