A 3-quasiparticle isomer in neutron-rich Ta-183

Excited states in neutron-rich Ta-183 have been studied using a two-neutron transfer reaction of Ta-181(O-18, O-16). In-beam gamma-rays were measured in coincidence with scattered ions detected by a high-resolution Delta E-E Si telescope for reaction channel selection. Previously known 1-quasiparticle bands are extended to higher spins, and several levels including a T-1/2 = 0.9(3) mu s 3-quasiparticle isomer are identified.
